These bold and well-twisted leaves have a slightly crepey appearance, dark color and modest amount of golden tips. When infused, the characteristics of a Keemun shine through with Burgundy notes and a rich flavor, as well as pleasant, honey-like hints.

So I was sipping a cup of tea this morning and somehow managed to drop my iPhone straight into my cup, speaker end first. For now, it has been turned off and placed on top of the heater to dry. Hopefully, it will still work okay. It does smell pretty tasty right now, at least.
Anyway, this tea! I’m a sucker for any tea that naturally has honey notes. Usually, they come in the form of oolong. A black tea with honey notes sounded super interesting. And I’m just delving into the world of black teas too! I do taste sweet apricot honey notes in this tea, but it is not as prominent as I had hoped. It’s also a bit chocolatey, but not very much. Overall, it has all the qualities that I enjoy in tea, but in small amounts. I suppose one might say that it is well balanced and subtly tasty. There is no astringency nor bitterness. It’s a very good tea, but not outstanding. I’d drink it again without hesitation. :D

This really is lovely tea, & although it lacks a bold bass note, & gratefully there is no crazy high end, it is very full & rich through the middle, kind of like a Keemun. However, in my opinion the taste is nothing like a Keemun, but more like a refined leafhopper black, like Mi Xian. It is sweet, honeyesque, with a fruity apricot taste & the smallest hint of coriander. A really pleasant cup!
“…lacks a bold bass note.” I love that. You WOULD use musical terms to describe tea.
How could I not? I’m the weirdo who can hear tiny bells playing in running water & other crazy phenomenon that nobody else seems to hear or know about…sigh… :)
Did you two have to be put in separate rooms a lot? ;) My siblings are 11 and 14 years older than me so I never really had the full in-house experience.
Georgie Girl, (sorry, I just love calling you that now) I’m the middle child, with 2 older brothers & 2 younger sisters. For most of my childhood I shared a room with my sisters, who are 4 & 6 years younger than me. Occasionally I had my own room, & because I played the piano so much, for awhile the piano was actually in my bedroom, LOL.

Having the piano in my bedroom was awesome, since I’ve always been a bit of a loner, & as a child was very happy to be left alone to play the piano indefinitely. With the Piano in the living room the other family members got tired of Beethoven & such, wanted to watch TV, etc. Sadly, the piano in my bedroom didn’t last as long as I’d like, but it ended up in the dining room for awhile, & that was also pretty good :)
Tea of the morning… (SRP #45)
Leaves are large and loosely packed due to their size and very dark brown. The tea brews up a little lighter than I expected. Not a very red brew, but somewhere more caramel in color. Resteeps well which does help offset the cost a little. Definite notes of honey, but much lower on the cocoa notes that I usually search for on this type of tea. I don’t get as much of a complexity that I would need from a tea in this price range (just over $17 for 80 grams). I would choose Imperial Golden Monkey for a similar flavor profile from Upton at a slightly better price.
Usual teapot method at 4 minutes. Resteep at 5.
This is a lovely black brew with twisty little dark leaves. When I smell the brewed leaves a hint of spiced orange and apricot come through. I think this is very comparable to a golden monkey or similar Fujian black tea though this is from Anhui. Its not as deep as my favorite Keemun or as complex as my favorite Darjeeling, but still quite tasty. There is a whiff of smokiness that is worked with the sweet honey notes and a bit of astringency at the front of the notes.
Not especially sweet. Some notes of grass, a hint of chocolate and toast. Little or no astringency or tannin aftertaste. I can imagine this as a really good tea for a winter day.

Can always try putting your phone into rice….the rice absorbs the water out of the phone. I have a number of friends who have done this when the phone totally wasn’t working and were able to rescue the phone this way

Whew, thank goodness for that. I had a similar experience, one time…
One day, I came home and took off my outside clothes and prepared a load of laundry. I started the wash and then had to make a phone call, but couldn’t find my phone. I wasn’t worried—I’m quite absent-minded and this happens frequently. I used the Find my phone application to locate it. The loud beeping enabled me to quickly locate it…inside the running washing machine. =( I hurriedly paused the wash and took out the phone. It worked for a few seconds and died. I tried all the tricks Google gave me for the next 8 days or so, to no avail. Finally, I made an appointment at the Apple store. They asked me what happened and I told them honestly that I had accidentally laundered it. After they stopped laughing, they gave me a new phone, in spite of the fact that water damage isn’t covered by AppleCare. So, I got a happy ending and a good story out of the experience (and a new phone). =) It still makes me laugh to think of the look on my face when I realised the beeping was coming from inside the washing machine.
