This is a very smooth chai. The prominent spices here seem to be cardamom and cinnamon, followed by the licorice (although I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the best at figuring out which spices are which!). The vanilla is subtle, but it makes the tea sweeter—as does the cacao, which is a little easier to taste. I think overall I prefer a spicier, heavier chai (with more ginger!). But I can definitely appreciate this one, and it’s well-balanced.

Wow! Out of the bag, this smells so strongly of cream cheese icing sugared cinnamon buns, I did a double take. I could just inhale it constantly, it’s THAT good. Steeped, it also smells amazing, even cooled. I found this much better hot though — a lovely, sweet chai with more cinnamon roll flavor than anything else. Very tasty!

I bought this one over the holidays when I was on a chai tea bender. I had this with milk and a bit of sugar and it was delicious.

It has a very nice smooth cocoa flavor to me that I thought blended very nicely with its tame spices. You still get a little bit of spice, but it’s very mild. I usually prefer my chai teas to be a bit on the spicier side but the cocoa in Hearthside was so good that I didn’t even mind.
