Strawberry Vanilla No. 961

A sunny Sunday afternoon sipdown. A much needed dose of “yes, spring will come” both outside and inside.

You know how when you get to the dregs of a sample—enough for one cup, not enough for two—you just say, “aw, shucks” and dump the whole thing in. Wasn’t the wisest move in the world; turned the green tea base a little bitter on the back of the tongue. But the strawberry/vanilla was still sweet and pleasant at the front of each sip.

I fixed it, though…treat yourself to a big slab of cherry dump cake and you won’t notice the bitter at all :)

This was one of the three free sample teas at Tin Roof Tea last Friday. I had a tiny bit of it in the store, but needed a good excuse to buy more tea when I already have more than I should. As it happens, that excuse came in the form of my friend saying that she needs some green teas to add to her cupboard and could I come up with some things she would like?

This one smelled so heavenly and tasted so good, I knew she would love it. Today we tried Anna’s Blend, a black tea with raspberry and yogurt flavors that reminded me of Marco Polo without all the drama of pulling the leaves at EXACTLY the right moment, and we had this one.

This one was hands down the favorite for both of us. The strawberry flavor is so natural that I felt like I had a cup of really good green tea and someone just crushed some fresh strawberry juice into it. The vanilla is very creamy and warm but not bold or in your face. This is so smooth. Anna’s Blend was excellent, don’t get me wrong, but this one was dazzling.

I am really sure this is the same tea offered by Teageschwender. The description is identical. I will gladly keep this one on shelf! Many thanks to Tin Roof Teas for making so many awesome teas available relatively close by! I believe they have about 300 in the store!

I could pretty much sum this up with ‘Meh.’

It’s thin, and mildly bitter. Has some astringency. The vanilla is mild and hits on the roof of my mouth in the beginning of the sip. Whe strawberry is pretty fair, sweet and not artificial tasting, but it’s faint and not enough to compensate.

Edit: I gave Fiance my cup to finish. His first evaluation was ‘This is pretty inoffensive.’ Followed up with ‘Oh. Actually this is quite pleasant.’ So to each their own, I guess.

This is one of the first teas that I tried from Tin Roof Teas. It has a nice fresh flavor of ripe strawberries that is wonderful. The flavor is tangy and fruity, like a ripe strawberry, with a light strawberry and cream aftertaste. There is a little of the green tea noticeable in the flavor, but not too much. Overall, this is just a very light and refreshing tea that I think would be excellent iced! I would have rated this a little higher, but there is a little bitterness even when steeped at the recommended time. It’s not terrible, though, and this is still a great every-once-in-awhile tea!

-Dry blend has a mixture of medium and large green tea leaves with pieces of dried strawberries.
-Dry leaves smell lightly of green tea and fresh strawberries. Tea liquor aroma is of strawberries and sweet vanilla.
-Tea liquor is a clear dark yellow color.
-Tangy and fruity strawberry flavor and finish. Light strawberry and cream aftertaste.
-Best with sweetener.
-Good tea. Fresh strawberry flavor with a hint of cream. A light and refreshing cup.

While this one is NOWHERE as gross as the last strawberry tea i had, it’s still not really up there. there’s a bitterness to the cup and the vanilla must have gone for a walk ‘cause it’s not in the house. heh that being said, in relative comparison to how awful the previous one was…this is so much better. But i think people could do better. it just doesn’t have that bursting with delicious strawberriness that i want it to.

Tea #5 from the HHTTB

Meh. This is a mediocre tea. It’s watery and bitter. The strawberry flavor is ok, but not enough to make up for the rest. I don’t get much in the way of vanilla, except that it might be what I detect in the aftertaste, can’t quite tell.
