From The Tea Table

Sencha with wild cherry. Incredible aroma with a light cherry flavor. Use one heaping tsp. per cup and steep 1 min. in near boiling water. Good hot or for iced tea.

Oh, this is nice! I was uncertain at first, because I ripped open the sample packet and it smelled exactly like cough syrup, but apparently that’s only in the dry leaves. The tea smells fruity and summery, and it tastes sort of in between actual cherries and really good cherry candy. And tea, of course — there’s a really good tea taste too, and it mixes in very nicely with the cherry flavor.

Now I’m wondering if I’ve got enough in the sample to make iced tea out of it! This would be a really great high summer tea, I think.

The friend who turned me on to The Tea Table says this is her staple summer tea.

Sipdown no. 6 of 2020 (no. 601 total).

We had a virtual coffee chat for my team at work and I brought the last of this along.

I must say that my group is doing a nice job of keeping people in touch even though we’re on week three of working from home. I probably see some people more on video now than I did in person.

Anyway, this tea. With age, it’s a little less juicy on the tea front and the cherry has a sort of “dry” aspect for lack of a better word. But it was still enjoyable. The original note provides an interesting record to compare this to from back when this tea was young.

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!
