Quangzhou Milk Oolong

Thanks to Indigobloom for sending me a sample of this which I am finally getting around to trying!

I still don’t know how to tell if a milk oolong has real or an artificial flavor added. From the description it would appear that this one is natural. I’ve been steeping it in the gaiwan for 60 seconds or so this morning at around 180 F. this is a very buttery tea that reminds me of freshly cooked corn. There is also a slight floral element here which is nice. It is very tasty but since I seem to be allergic to milk I always worry about these. :)

It gets a little less milky around the 3rd and 4th step so that’s where I seem to like it the most. Amazing this reminds me of POPCORN!

Now that I’ve tried a few of these, I can tell that this is a high quality Milk Oolong! I purchased this one months ago before I knew what it was all about, and wasn’t able to appreciate the quality. When I went digging through my stash I found this at the bottom and had to give it another go!! I only have one serving left so I will definitely be buying some more :)
This is very creamy and sweet without any added sugar at all. It really does taste like I added some sweetener.
Overall, a close second to the the ATM version that QuiltGuppy sent me. That one has more depth, so I find it more satisfying, and the flavour is more peachy and distinct. Also, I don’t really taste much of the tea here, it’s all milk and sweetness. I don’t mind that though. There is some scratchiness, but then, it doesn’t help that on the first infusion, I
accidentally oversteeped, again… *sighs
So I’m going to try a resteep but I suspect it may not last beyond two or three of them. Oh well, live n learn. Let’s see what the next cup brings me :)
EDIT: the second cup is much rounder and a bit less creamy. I’d love to try this in gaiwan one day. I’m getting some of the tea now and it has a really nice finish… a bit sour and milky.

This tea tastes exactly like it smells – very very creamy. I need to steep it well to get that delicious oolong bitterness and herb flavors out of it, otherwise it’s a little too overpoweringly milky for me.

The whole milk oolong fakeness controversy can be a bit daunting to a novice drinker like myself but if I am to believe that milk flavor stays strong throughout infusions in real milk oolong, this tea carries creaminess all the way through.

Delicious tea for the morning that I can see myself drinking any time of the day.

Probably my favourite tea ever. This was the tea that prompted me to buy a Brita filter and a thermometer, so I could properly re-steep this tea several times at the right temperature. So worth it!
