From The Republic of Tea

Seductive chocolate married with a hint of strawberry in this amply amorous cup. Rooibos, or red tea, provides the base in which these two flavors mingle.

Rooibos is also known for its super antioxidant powers – sipping this delicious dessert tea together may inspire a long and loving life for you and your sweetheart.

Rooibos, carob, cocoa kernels, natural chocolate flavor, natural strawberry flavor, sweet blackberry leaves, and bourbon vanilla beans

This one is pretty inoffensive. If you’re looking to taste the rooibos, you will, but otherwise I think it tastes mostly like strawberry and milk chocolate. The woody component is there but it’s background. Definitely not one I’m going to repurchase but it’s pleasant enough. I like that it’s decaf.

So, my mom picked this up for both of us and then read reviews and was worried that it might be awful, but it’s actually pretty good! I followed her recommendations, based on what she read: 2 teabags (I used a 12 oz. mug), add milk and sugar. It tasted like a strawberry milkshake. No real chocolate to be found, but hey, that’s still pretty good for a rooibos. Yes, there was some rooibos flavor, but it wasn’t too strong. Oh, and 5 minutes does the trick. Glad to have another caffeine-free option in my cupboard. Thanks to my mom!

Seems pretty pleasant but will have to try the two bag version next time. I used one bag with about 6oz water, milk and sugar.

This one is just utterly OK. It was a bit weak, which is always a negative for me. I added a little sugar and milk, which were nice, but it was just kind of blah. I mostly got the chocolate and strawberry as aftertastes, but they were there. I agree there is a kind of dustiness about these flavors, and it’s a bit more cocoa than chocolate. I do give them high points for not having anything that tastes artificial, though. I have a few bags of this, and may try it again with 2 tea bags in 12 oz or so to see if that helps. It’s worth keeping what I have, and drinking it, but I probably won’t be rebuying it.

As soon as I sipped this Neopolitan nectar, I knew it would be a staple in my tea closet. This tea is incredible. It is the perfect dessert tea – sweet, classy, and delicious. I never liked the previous teas I’d tasted from Republic of Tea (despite their adorable tea tins), but now I’m starting to understand what the hype is about. The carob in this tea adds a nice earthy note to the sweet flavor palette.

I had it with a little bit of dark chocolate in there as a garnish. It’s a good replacement for hot cocoa at night because it’s so low in caffeine. All in all, I hope you give it a try.

I’m at a different work location away from my “work stash” so I decided to bring in this can and do bagged tea so I don’t look like a big weirdo with my loose leaf, tea strainers and other gadgets. Anyway, yes, this is slightly artificial tasting, but I really like it. I use boiling water, use 2 bags in a 12oz mug and a bit of sweetener and it’s quite pleasant. In fact, I’m surprised at how quickly I’ll be getting through the tin. The tea being a rooibos doesn’t hurt either. Not sure I’d re-buy, as at “normal” stores, RoT teas usually go for $10 and with doubling up, the 36 bags that come in this package really only makes 18 mugs. Some of their tea comes with 50 bags, yet the price doesn’t change, peculiar. Anyway, I’ll happily finish up this tin, not sure on the repurchase though – though a good sale would probably tempt me.

I was pleasantly surprised again by a chocolate blend. This smelled exactly like when you bite into a chocolate-covered strawberry and get the mix of those two scents. The chocolate flavor was a tad weaker than I would have liked, and I could see myself brewing this with two bags maybe. Also, as someone else suggested, I imagine this would have been even better with a black tea base. But, I’m always greatful for a tasty rooibos blend that I can drink at night, which is probably the time of day I’d want chocolate-covered strawberries anyway.

I’ve had a good day enjoying this tea today. I sense the strawberry and the chocolate flavors both before and after steeping. I added a bit of Stevia which made it quite enjoyable. It is definitely a dessert type tea. The rooibos doesn’t bother me as it does some people.

After drinking 2 cups, I resteeped the tea with some Yogi Daily Detox. Helped cover up the boring flavor of the Detox and still enjoyable cup of the Strawberry Chocolate.

First Sip Thought: “A seductive pair!”

Smell: At first scent, I can definitely get more chocolate than strawberry. After steep I can sense some strawberry while the liquid turns into a beautiful red shade.

Taste: These two flavours mingle well together and that’s my explanation for my First Sip Thought. The chocolate is more prevalent than the strawberry in the taste and smell but I think that’s how it’s supposed to be. A decadent chocolate covering the hint of strawberry. However, the rooibos is the higher of flavours in this tea. I’m glad it wasn’t overpowered by the added flavours. This tea was sent to me in unbleached tea bags. I was expecting loose leaf but I didn’t mind. When I was younger my first ever cup of tea was a strawberry tea bag that was, at the time for me, to die for! This tea brought back those memories, and made them even sweeter (because of the added chocolate!) With each smooth sip, this rooibos really grows on you. When I prepared it I added a dash of milk to make it extra creamy and more like a dessert.

I brewed this a little lower than I would normally brew a rooibos, which turned out to be a happy accident: this tastes exactly like a chocolate covered strawberry. It’s a little sweeter than I would have expected, but the chocolate is assertive like few teas of this kind achieve and the fruit still manages to come through. This is definitely one of the better Republic of Tea flavors I’ve tried.

Quite a nice, mellow tea. The chocolate and strawberry flavours are low-key (a nice “natural” strawberry, not that candy/bubble-gum taste), and it went down pleasantly. I’ve come to like flavoured rooibos, and rooibos seems to be a good base for this.
(I often want the flavours to be stronger, esp the chocolate, but maybe that’s because I’m a novice and I think I’m drinking hot chocolate.) I would have this again, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.
I added 1/3 tsp sugar, and milk.
(Steeped for 14 minutes, oops.)
