From Teavana

Kawaii means ‘cute,’ in Japanese. We won’t disappoint as we deliver a joy of soft and sweet aroma that evokes Hawaiian pineapple. Bursting with soft, sweet pineapple flavor as the tiger lily and globe amaranth blossoms unfurl and infuse in the cup. Each flower blossom center is hand-strung through a tiny needle, then rolled in a cotton mesh with young, tender white tea buds and leaves to form the shape of the ball.

This is my first ever blooming tea! I generally stay away from jasmine if possible (except on rare occasions) so this is likely the cause of this. This was another sale tea and I’d never, ever pay the $18 for this one. I have no idea where they get off thinking it should be that costly for these blooming teas. The balls themselves smell just like pineapple! They even have that acidic bite that I love so much.
Steeping this was pretty fun, I think that it didn’t fully unfurl during the 1st steep. The liquor is very, very light, but smells nice enough. A lot of the white tea smell is coming through. mmm this is pretty nice. Mellow, fruity, with white tea notes that remind me of the strawberry paradisio one from Teavana. Overall, it is a good tea. Is it an $18 tea? No chance.

2nd and 3rd steeps were very good too! My husband liked it so much he stole a glass of it for himself. He was pretty sad when I told him we won’t be getting more anytime soon.

“I have no idea where they get off thinking it should be that costly for these blooming teas.”

They think this because they are Teavana and they think it’s perfectly acceptable to charge an arm and a leg for teas. The sad thing is that most of their teas are mediocre at best.

Yeah, I do have to agree. I think that they must have been having a hard time selling these lately because all 3 types went on sale. It’s not even that it is a bad tea or sub-par in anyway, just not the best thing ever.

This has to be the weakest blooming tea I’ve ever had, on multiple levels.

It has less flavor than the jasmine green ones I have from Teavivre. They make me feel like this is a tea I can drink and not just look at. You’d think with adding pineapple flavoring, there might be something here.

And the second weak note, this isn’t even a flowering tea I want to look at. It was very unimpressive. And this comes from someone who absolutely loves lilies, that’s the reason I picked this up (beyond that it was on sale).

I steeped it for far longer than they suggest. It’s faintly pineapple, but that’s it. Four different flowers in here, including jasmine, and I got nothing.

I can’t believe they sell you 7 of these for $18 normally. Good god.

Are you only supposed to use 8 oz of water for theirs for some reason? I have no idea since not a single blooming tea is on the website anymore. The back of the package indicates that…what a waste.

Resteeped with just 8 oz of water it isn’t any better.
Well at least they have lilies.

No just kidding this is a waste of lilies >:[

I think Teavana’s blooming teas are pretty weak too. Not a fan.

Aww. That’s disappointing. :(
Also, I really hate when the directions are hidden/non-existent.

I got some of the Peach ones on Boxing Day . . I had little hopes with them and this is making me think I’m not going to love ’em when I try mine.

This is one of the things I purchased from momo, and I have to completely agree with her about this tea. It was a fun experiment (I’ve only seen one blooming tea before, and it was years ago) but while it was interesting to watch the “flower” unfold, it only tasted very lightly of pineapple.

Very good served cold. I didn’t like it much served hot though

I absolutely love this tea. I used the Teavana perfect tea maker with 1 1/2 teaspoons of the unprocessed rock sugar and it came out perfect. It is a light white tea with great pineapple flavor. I will buy as much of this tea as I can before its discontinued. Even at the higher end of the price range I would still spend $2 a ball and get 2-3 cups over paying $4 for a crappy cup of Starbucks. A coworker who loves black tea said it was the best tea he has ever had. I would have to agree with him, this is my new favorite tea!
