Blueberry White

The flavor is so delicately sweet..it’s almost feminine! It conjures up in my mind an image of a cute little tea party complete with doilies and miniature pastries. To those in Harvard Square…I bet this would taste fantastic with a cupcake from Sweet next door…!

…But I hope I haven’t deterred the he-men. It’s delicious—do try it.

A very light and energetic white tea. The blueberry aroma takes over as soon as you open the pack, and carries through the cup. A medium steep with mild water is the way to go with whites to avoid the bitterness. The blueberries in it (yes there are dried blueberries in the tea) will give this tea a natural sweetness, and is a good afternoon tea when one feels the urge to eat something.

I can get usually two good infusions out of a teaspoon.

I am generally not a huge herbal tea fan and while this isn’t a true herbal I just had to try it. Since then, I’ve re-ordered this tea three times. It’s excellent.

One word of warning, this tea will go bad if not used within say a few months (and stored properly).

My first trip to Tealuxe in Harvard Square! I asked the guy working to recommend a good low caffeine tea (it was already late afternoon), and this was one of the ones he showed me. When I smelled the dry leaf, it smelled like sweet blueberries, almost verging on a candy-like smell but not quite. The blueberry smell was still strong after steeping, but not as strong in flavor. Maybe it’s because I’ve been drinking a lot of Davids Tea lately. Anyway, the blueberry flavor was definitely there and tasted more natural than the smell. The white tea also shone through with the grassy, vegetal taste. I’m not always a fan of the grassy taste, so this rating doesn’t quite make it to 80, but it is a pretty good tea nonetheless. Next time I go to Tealuxe, I’m going to make sure I have enough time to really poke my nose into all the teas I can. Plus, they have a whole wall full of cute teaware, too!
