MissB sent this to me and though I am very glad I got to try it, I am also glad there was only one cup worth to try. This tea is just not for me. I am finding I really do not like the hibiscus in this blend as it is cutting through the other flavors and denying me the sweetness promised. Also, I can’t find the ginger in this cup at all. Thank you MissB for the sample, if not for you I may have bought some and been very disappointed.

As a herbal tea this was not bad, though I always like “real teas” more than tisanes. The alarming ruby red colour of the liquor would probably activate the hibiscus alert in everybody’s head, but trust me, this tea was not tart at all. In fact, it was quite sweet, thanks to the blackberry leaves and other sweet flavourings! The dominant flavour in the cup was berry/plum, and there was a sweet warming note (reminded me of bakery) which could be attributed to cinnamon. Ginger was barely detectable other than a hint of spiciness on my tongue. A very Christmassy tea and that’s why I was drinking it on Boxing Day morning. ;)

I know exactly what you mean when you say you prefer “real teas”. Tisanes always make me wish they had more to them.

You’re just so right Tabby ;)

I picked up a discounted sampler box of winter-themed Tea Forte teas at work yesterday.

A lot of people have been hating on this tea and when I saw the hibiscus in the ingredients I wasn’t expecting much. But honestly? It’s not too bad. The sour, tangy hibiscus is kept to a manageable levels and there are some actual plum-likes flavours in there along with the warm notes of ginger. Not something I’d go out and buy on its own but it’s not horrible.

Found a couple pyramids of tea from Tea Forte while I was packing to move. Decided to have this one tonight. A very dark color in the cup, a rather pretty shade of purple while it’s brewing. I am actually glad I can’t really taste this one. It sounds marvelous, but the flavor is odd. Like it’s trying to be sweet, but instead it’s tart. The sour coats my tongue and throat and lingers even after I dumped the cup.

Ick! :)

Le sigh. I was pretty sure I posted a review of this, as it was sent to me by TeaBrat. But the review is gone, and it is missing from my Cupboard on the site.

I just brewed the second (and last) packet.

I rather like this. It’s nice and fruity. I think I will go by the one place I know carries it and see if they have marked it down now that the holidays are over.

I’m glad you liked it! Bummer about the lost review. :(

This tisane came in the “Warming Joy” gift set by Tea Forte. I was a little confused at first because they are now calling this “Spiced Ginger Plum”, although it appears to be the same tea.

This was the one I was looking forward to the least due to the hibiscus in it. It definitely has a plummy smell but I would describe the flavor as a combination of tart and medicine. I really wish I liked hibby a bit more because it’s supposed to be so good for you; nevertheless I am not a fan and will be struggling to finish the cup.

This tea has a “bite” which I’m not sure is the hibiscus, cinnamon, ginger or a combination of the three. A bit of sweetener improved this, but I don’t know what I will do with the rest of these Sweet Ginger Plum samples that came in the set. Any hibiscus fans out there?

I saw this tea in a store the other day, and was tempted, as I do like hibiscus, but I don’t know how I feel about the coconut. Sometimes I like it, and sometimes I don’t. Is it prominent?

TeaBrat

I didn’t taste coconut at all! I still have 3 little packets, I’d be glad to send you a sample if you want to try it. let me know ;)

Skulleigh

I would love a sample, thank you! I’ll send you a message with my address.

I don’t know how I feel about this one. I do know that it is the first tea with ginger that I have been able to drink. It was drinkable, I just don’t know if I will order it in the future. I have one more sample from when I ordered my Kati Cup from Tea Forte. I wan’t to try it cold. I don’t have any thing for cold brewing, yet. I think, since it’s my long day at work, that I will put it in my (boyfriend’s) PerfecTea maker and put it in the fridge for the duration of my shift. It’s an herbal so I would be able to try it right after work.
