Found a cool site today: http://steep.it. Tea timer that has some cool url rewriting. For example: http://steep.it/black will automatically start a steeping timer for 3 minutes. So will http://steep.it/3minutes. I used it to steep my Earl Grey today. This is 2 minutes less than usual, so we’ll have to see what difference it makes. If it is good here, I need to try this tea timer with the Gypsy Raspberry Earl Grey.

Ok maybe not all Earl Greys are made equally. This one just seems to have a lack of flavor that so many other’s bring out. Even in loose leaf I was sorely disappointed. Eh it’s ok, with a little sugar and cream it makes for a good tea to find on almost every corner in America. ;-)

Seriously, I am getting spoiled by loose leaf teas now, so tea bags are just not doing it for me anymore.
I grabbed a cup of this from the cafeteria at work because I was longing for some tea but I had left my tea press travel mug in the car (and I park 6 blocks away). Compared to Harney & Sons’ Earl Grey Supreme, this tea is bland and flavourless. I was getting just the tiniest bit of bergamot, just mostly bland black tea flavour.
Lesson learned: do not leave tea press in the car.
My aunt was staying at a pretty fancy hotel in Chicago, and while I was passing through, she graciously invited me to spend a few hours with her eating all the free food that we could find.
So I sipped on a few bags of this for a few hours with some apples and biscuits. Smells very heavily of bergamot (but I could be wrong, like I would know what a Bergamot is), but very weak tasting. Don’t get me wrong, I was content with it. It’s completely tolerable and provides you with a nice tea/caffeine fix while going well with a nice meal. But I wouldn’t pay for it.
Tried today and it wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t my favorite. Plain Earl Grey always leaves my mouth a bit fuzzy, so about half way through I start to not like it.
For the first time I put non-fat milk in my tea (just a splash) and I really couldn’t taste too much of a difference. Will have to keep playing with that in the future I suppose.
I really dislike this version of Earl Grey. I don’t know what it is, if it’s the variety of Bergamot oil used, or other flavors that are put in with it, but there’s something sharper about the flavor that doesn’t equate to what I’m expecting when I think of Earl Grey.
All in all, I haven’t been too happy with Tazo.
Didn’t used to be an earl grey fan. I tried it a while ago with Stash. I didn’t care for it then so I shelved it. I tried it again fairly recently and it quickly became one of my favorite. I tried an earl grey latte from Tazo and love it. One of my favorites.
