Mao Jian hails from the high mountains of Henan Province, China. “Mao” means tiny fuzz. “Jian” means sharp and it refers to the shape of the leaves. The Mao Jian leaves have a dark green color, straight and delicate edges, and a thinly rolled appearance with both ends of the leaves in a pointed shape. Mao Jian leaves are smaller than most other green teas. But they have a very savory taste and sweetly vegetal aroma. The tea brews into a light-bodied yellow-green infusion. The best Mao Jian leaves are plucked in the earliest days of spring harvest. Relax over a cup of Mao Jian after a busy day or savor it as your afternoon pick-me-up tea!
