From Red Blossom Tea Company

Harvested in Northern Fujian, this bright and refreshing green tea is easy to brew, with no bitterness. Instead, the finish is crisp and sweet, with mild notes of grass. Similar to Sencha from Japan, this drum roast green tea is easy to brew as a hot or iced tea.

Spring Mao Feng has a naturally delicate, clean, subtle nature. A temperature of 185 and a short steep will bring out all of it’s finest attributes.

We recommend rinsing this tea for 1 second before steeping. Begin with a 1 minute steep and add 10 seconds for each subsequent re-infusion.

Finished my sample of these leaves with my mom today. Glad I got to share the buttered squash notes. It was a very tasty morning treat.

I haven’t tried a Mao Feng yet, though I’m curious and have been on the verge of ordering a couple times. Buttered squash sounds a good place to start, I’ll put this one on my list.

I hadn’t either, this came as a sample with a stash sale I purchased on Steepster. The closest thing I have had to date was a nice Sencha Japanese green. The sweet vegetal notes were quite addicting but they only stay around for one or two steeps when done gongfu style.
Wish I had more!

Huang Shan Mao Feng is our favorite green! I buy Teavivre’s usually.

Drinking the crumbs of this right now! I can definitely see what you mean by buttered squash. This tea re-invigorated my interest in Chinese greens after being bored by some other bad, astringent, possibly too old teas. It’s a very forgiving when brewed grampa style

You’re telling me! I ended up doing more steeps than I usually put a green through and got up into the 10 minute range while still producing great flavors.

Added some Trader Joe’s vanilla bean paste to this tea today and um… YUMMM. Now I need to add a vanilla green to my list of cupboard must-haves!

Was browsing green teas at Red Blossom Tea Company this weekend. The dry leaves of the Spring Mao Feng 2015 smelt beautiful –– even nicer than the super buttery premium Dragon Wells. It was a harmonious blend of grassy and buttery.

Unfortunately after steeping, it tasted mostly grassy. Slightly toast buttery but more grassy. Not a bad green, but I went with the Pre-Rain Dragon Well instead.
