From Red Blossom Tea Company

A green tea scented with lotus flowers. Popular among the Vietnamese during the Tet ( Lunar New Year) holiday.

Lotus has a touch of smokiness and a unique floral aroma reminiscent of sandalwood.

Water Temperature: 175°, or when very small bubbles appear on the water’s edge.

Brewing Instructions: Use 1 tablespoon (double for a medium sized pot). Rinse tea for 1 second. Discard rinse water. Steep for 1 minute. May be infused multiple times.

The scent is of green tea and bitter black licorice. I’ve never smelled lotus before, so I guess that is what it smells like. It’s quite unappealing. There’s also a medicine smell to it.

The taste is horrid. Something that makes your mouth kind of tingle like some lozenges due, bitter black licorice that sticks in the back of your throat. shudder

Have you tried Tazo Lotus? Yeah its decaf in a bag but I really like it. It has a light flowery taste. No bitter unless you oversteep. No licorice. I have heard bad things about lotus teas before. Is Tazo not representative?

I’ll have to remember to try Tazo sometime then. Can’t say if this one was a fluke or a good example of lotus ones as it’s the first I’ve had… but it was horrible lol.
