No. 711 Brave New Earl

Freshly steeped, the jasmine is quite apparent here with more subtle scents of bergamot and juniper. I’ve perhaps let this cool too much (lukewarm) because most of the flavour is also jasmine. I appreciate the black base against the jasmine (as opposed to a green or herbal base). I have one more bag left, so I’ll try to drink it while it’s hot.

I was so intrigued by others commenting P&T that I not only wanted to taste some samples (like in an advent calendar), I took advantage of a special offer and ordered 8 different teas! This was one of the ones I really wanted to try, as I´m an Earl Grey fan, and the addition of juniper sounds great.
I like the packaging and I love the aromas when opening the tea package! I´m not so sure about how it changes when brewed…or should I say that the aroma´s promise more than what I finally taste in mouth? I hoped to have a deeper and longer juniper effect, I guess. The tea leaves can be infused twice, with a similar result, so that´s nice.

A tea I was looking most forward and luckily, it delivers my expectations quite right.

It is EG, for sure. Not sure how much bergamot, rather quite generic citrusy note. I mean, I had more bergamot forward teas. But at least it wasn’t overpowering the light, but present base tea.

Sadly, other ingredient I was looking forward, isn’t much present. As Roswell Strange mentioned, it needs more juniper! It was pine-y; but somehow it just complements the citrus notes. I was expecting stronger note of it. Not sure how much berries were in my sachet, I will try to crush them next time a bit. They use cotton and thus opaque sachets, for two steepings. I will try second steep now… but I don’t expect much difference.

And not sure if jasmine flowers are in, but it was nicely floral too. Better than yesterday experience, but still I have expected more from it.

Adventaggedon Day 1: Tea 7/7

So I’ve obviously tried every tea that’s going to be in the DAVIDsTEA advent I got this year (because, well, duh) but aside from the DT advent this was the only other tea I got today that I had tried before. It was nice to revisit it though because it has been a few years. I wish I got more juniper because that pine-y kind of note works so well with the bergamot that’s used here. Aside from the slight addition of juniper, it’s also just a more floral EG in general as well. Very botanical type vibes on the whole.

A nice, wintry earl, says it’s piney, to which I say maybe.
