Nordqvist Moomin Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 1

Okay, this tea has the most charming name ever ha ha. I love the thought of the mama moomin sipping this strawberry, rhubarb, & cream black tea for energy while she goes about her day. And obviously she shares!

Anyway, it’s a tasty enough tea. To be honest, I bought this advent for the cuteness so I’m not expecting a whole lot from the teas. This is a pleasant strawberry-rhubarb tea, the strawberry is a bit candylike, but it’s actually nice with the slight tartness of the rhubarb. The base is a bit musty, and I notice it more and more as it cools. I don’t really get cream, but there is a hint of floral, perhaps from one of the flavorings. Overall I would’ve liked a bit more flavoring.

Enjoyed the cup, not something I would order as there are other rhubarb teas I like more, but it was a nice flavor profile to have today! :)

I wanted to get this advent calendar, but the shipping was more expensive than the calendar itself!

As I recall from my stay in Finland, all teas were a bit weaker in flavouring; but at least the base tea was always noticeable — which I consider as a good thing.

This one has a fairly strong rose smell which is quite perfumey as I go to sip the tea, but it doesn’t really come across in the flavour. There is no astringency. I’m not quite sure if I can taste the rhubarb and strawberry flavours. There is a flavour in the tea, but it’s very subtle and I’m finding it difficult to identify. Not a bad tea, but it would be better without any rose.
