I picked up my swap package from Christina today – Thank you so much.
This was one of the ones included. :))
I really like genmaicha and it’s not something that I’ve really explored very much. I like this one – it’s not too grassy, nice gentle green base with toasted brown rice. It’s more cereal than green tea, so that suits me just fine. Might even be a little sweeter than what I’m used to, but all in all a really nice genmaicha. Thank you for sharing.

So good! I love the flavour that the rice adds, and it looks so interesting in a jar on my shelf. I get a lot of questions about this tea when people see me making it.

I usually drink it at lunchtime.

Backlog from yesterday morning, after the Steepster Day of Server Doom:

I’m planning on ordering some genmaicha from Yunomi.us in September, so I really need to sip this down. The thing is, a little bit of this goes a long way. I don’t have much new to say about this tea, but it’s decent.

Cameron B.

Do you know of a really good one from Yunomi.us? :D I love genmaicha.

TeaBrat

Cameron – I thought Obubu’s was nice :)

Christina / BooksandTea

I’ve only tried 2 genmaichas from Yunomi.us, and I liked both of them. Notes here:

BTW: the second one is currently on sale on Yunomi.us – IIRC, it’s about $8 for 200g.

If there’s still any of that brand still in stock come Sept 1st, I may buy it. If not, I’m going to go with the first genmaicha to restock.

Cameron B.

TeaBrat, yeah I’m still planning on ordering a bunch of sencha samples from Obubu via Yunomi, so I’ll definitely try their genmaicha as well. :D

Christina, thanks for the recommendations! I’ll keep those two in mind. :D

I picked this up today at a Japanese/Korean market. I think I found my new morning tea! The package said to throw boiling water and steep for 30 seconds. It’s a nice light green tea with roasted brown rice flavour. Very grassy tea. I really like it and that’s good because I got loads of it. 400g for only 3.99.

This is my everyday pantry must have “Genmaicha”.
Love my ochazuki with this tea too.

Its a great “appetizer” tea to start a meal with or even throughout.
Love Japanese dishes, sashimi, sushi, oden with it or that great Korean banchan or that scrumptious BBQ.
Daily steeper… Great hot or cold…makes an awesome honey iced green tea.

One of my favourite teas… Mouth watering goodness.
