From New Mexico Tea Company

Perfect as a sun tea or, as your afternoon tea, this earthy Oolong with natural plum flavor makes a winning combination.

The Chinese were the first to cultivate the plum fruit, and revered it as a symbol of love and good fortune. This reverence for the plum is not limited to China. In the United States, the fruit has its own holiday, National Plum Pudding day on February 12th. Across the Pacific in Japan, the whole month of February is dedicated to the fruit since it blossoms during that month. In many parts of Europe wild plum trees grow in great quantities and living near a grove of them is thought to increase fertility.

Extra Info:
Infuse a tablespoon of leaves in a small pot for just about a minute. The tea is then re-infused and served 2 or 3 more times. Each infusion yields a different liquor and experience from the proceeding cup.

Ingredients:
Wuyi Oolong with natural plum flavor

Origin:
China

Ooooh a wuyi oolong flavored with plum!

Gosh, it was hard to do my usual thang and review a tea from my collection. The travelling tea box is in my possession and I want to explore it more drinking random teas.

Anyways, Plum Oolong was a bit of a surprise – I was expecting something tart and hibiscusy, similar to other plum teas I’ve tried. The wuyi base works quite well adding some complexities of nutty and roast plus creamyness in the resteep. The plum hits as an aftertaste with a slight floraly note.
The plum flavor is okay. It seems on the flat/artificial side, but I still enjoyed it.

Iced, plum oolong is a different animal – more plummy with honey notes!

This is alright. Im too exhausted still due to hubby having been on overnight schedule this past week – to do a proper review. I will not rate yet either.
Its good but not mind blowing but I was also half asleep still when I made the cup so it could be my fault.
There may be some fakey like flavor in it … its perfumey sort of but please don’t take this for sure until I have it again. I will update and do a formal review.
I do like it a lot better as I let it get cool. This may be one of those I save for iced tea in the summer.

Another sample from Alphakitty :) Azzrian & Alphakitty’s boxes are the most conveniently located right now, so I’m making good progress on them! Have to get to everyone else’s stuff soon!

The aroma is very subtly of grape/plum, and a woody oolong base. The flavour follows; fairly light, with a bit of fruitiness and a light base. Very smooth. I’d like to try this with a longer infusion; I hurriedly looked up brewing parameters and probably confused some things (I think this amount of leaf was for 3 or so min, and I should have used more for 1 min). But I’m tired and stressed and this is what happened. At least it isn’t way oversteeped!

Glad you liked this one! I need to try it again, I think something went weird in the steeping because I didn’t get the oolong at all.

Well, there wasn’t the oolong aftertaste I like, but I don’t get that from darker oolongs anyhow.

Finally getting to the last tea from my NMTC order (the pu’erh doesn’t count until my gaiwan arrives!). This was an impulse buy, and when I opened them all up to smell them this one seemed the least appealing—I love the taste of fresh plums, but this seemed… artificial. On somewhat of a whim today I decided to brew this up along with some chai spices, sugar plum style!

The earthy oolong and fruity plum flavors balance well, but they’re not overly exciting by themselves, and I think the chai gave them a much-needed kick in the butt. With the spices this is a pretty tasty cup, though more holiday-themed than the current weather really calls for. The plum is a bit on the artificial side, and isn’t really… plum-tasting. It’s more of a generic, juicy fruit taste. It’s not bad, but I was hoping that it would taste like a freshly cut plum. The oolong base is innocuous enough: I like greener oolongs more than their darker counterparts, but the earthy tones definitely work better with the flavoring here. I think I am going to be using this mostly for blending, as on its own nothing really stands out or makes me think “oh, I want more of that!”

I had received a sample of this a while back, but I decided that it’s due time to drink some samples down. I must admit that I was pretty happy with the way that this tea turned out. It had a nice nutty bite, with a slight dry plum note in the aftertaste. I didn’t care for the flavoring, but the base of the Wuyi makes this tea quite nice to drink. Overall, I had liked this brew, but I may not restock on it again.

Sweet Plum goodness. This one I really enjoyed. This is one of the first plum teas that I have thought actually taste like plum. A lot of them come off as artificial. This one didn’t to me. Fresh plum flavor is what I got. I know a lot of other people have reviewed this particular tea and thought it was very fake plum tasting. Maybe they revamped the blend. This one isn’t going to last long in my house. The twins are already asking me for more!

In other news Constantine is possibly heading into Season 2. I don’t know if anybody else loved this show like I did, but I am happy that this show has a glimmer of a hope since NBC cancelled it.

Took a quick look through the other tasting notes/ratings for this tea, and was a little surprised at how others felt about it.
I really like this tea. It’s just yummy. Nice plum, nice oolong base, juicy, not tart, really enjoyable cup.
I’m a fan of flavored oolongs in general, but most of them are done with more of a green base. This oolong is darker and that makes me happy.
Do I LOVE this tea? – no, but we can certainly be friends and I wouldn’t mind always having a little floating around.
