Im äußersten Süden Chinas leben diverse ethnische Minderheiten, die seit Jahrtausenden die Blätter der wilden Camellia sinensis in den tropischen Regenwäldern sammeln. Eine traditionelle Sorte von Tee, die dort hergestellt wird, ist der Dian Hong. Dies ist sozusagen der Ur-Schwarztee. Bedingt durch den hohen Polyphenolgehalt ist dies ein extrem malziger und gehaltvoller Schwarztee mit dunkelroter Tasse.
