Backlog:

I don’t really love chamomile, but I don’t hate it. I have discovered that as long as it’s the chamomile blossom and not chamomile dust (like what you’ll find in the tea bags from some of those large commercial brands) chamomile is pretty good.

And what’s nice about this particular blend is that there are other ingredients that give it a fresh citrus-y sort of taste that I find appealing. There’s not a heavy hibiscus taste or texture to this and it gets bonus points for that.

Overall, not a bad tisane. Not something I’d drink daily, but it’s alright.

There were a few bags of this blend in a variety box I ordered recently. It’s still delightful. The chamomile and citrus are well blended and refreshing. This is better hot than iced, but it is still palatable cold. It’s nice for an afternoon work tea when I need something energizing but caffeine-free.

Sipdown #20

The dry leaf aroma is pretty weird. Maybe it’s the lemongrass? I don’t know. But if someone gave it to me in a blind smell test, I wouldn’t guess that it’s tea. I’d probably guess disinfectant. Yikes! Luckily, the brewed tea aroma is a lot more palatable and recognizable as tea. It actually smells quite lovely now.

Mmmm, this is yummy! Chamomile and citrus both come across immediately in the aroma and taste. But then the aftertaste creeps in and that strange disinfectant quality returns. What is that? It’s ruining what would otherwise be a very lovely cuppa indeed.

The more I sip, the more tolerable it is. I was so curious I actually went to the Mighty Leaf website to read the ingredient list. I was just thinking, “You know, a bit of mint in this and it would be even better!” when lo and behold, this already has spearmint in it! Maybe that’s the weirdness in this cup. I’m not usually a spearmint fan. But at the same time, this odd taste seems foreign. I know what spearmint tastes like. This is…something different. Something unknown.

Oh well, I give up. Whatever it is, this isn’t my favorite chamomile citrus nighttime blend. Tea Forte’s Chamomile Citron wins that prize. I don’t think I’ll seek this one out again, but I probably wouldn’t turn my nose up at it either if it was offered to me. All in all, it’s just okay. Although any time I use the word “tolerable” to describe a tea, it makes me wonder why I’m drinking it. Tea should be more than tolerable.

Second tea of the day here at work. I always get a bit nervous right before these things, so I chose chamomile to calm me down a bit. I think it’s the culmination of the planning and hard work, and wanting everything to go well. It turns out that chamomile and citrus make a pretty good pairing — naturally sweet, a slight hint of sharpness from the citrus, soothing and smooth tasting, yet with a distinctive edge. It maybe shouldn’t work, but it does. A true case of complementary opposites.

The chamomile here is whole flower, and the citrus is, I think, orange. It’s a little hard to pinpoint exactly, because the chamomile is definitely the primary flavour, but I’m going to say that’s what it is. It’s what I can taste, anyhow. There might be other flavours in there, but they’re too indistinct for me to really be able to identify right this minute. I quite like a good chamomile tea, and this is a nice one. Great stuff!

Such a beautiful balance between a sharp citrus that sticks around just long enough to keep you craving just “one last” sip coupled with the beautifully calming powers of chamomile that gives it a nice relaxing, somewhat earthy tone to it that chamomile always induces and never fails to please with. No complaints on this one, might have to make this my new favorite chamomile mix. Simply divine for relaxing with some Adventure Time and a snuggle from your cat after a long day.

I drink this every night!! I have trouble sleeping sometime and I’ve tried to drink the stash chamomille tea and the yogi bedtime caramel tea (something like that…) but I didn’t really like either of them. It was a pain for me to finish those 2. When I drink the mighty leaf by itself, I still can’t fall asleep sometimes so I double up on the stash chamomille and the mighty leaf in one cup and I can always fall asleep!

I kind of wish there was a little bit more citrus, I’m thinking about putting a slice of fresh lemon or orange in it when I have them.

I don’t really care for plain chamomile. This one was very good with the citrus taste. It’s my relaxing evening tea now.

I had acup earlier. This taste like lemon and chamomile. And while lemon is not one of my favorite things this was decent.

I’m not normally a fan of just plain chamomile tea but I do like the soothing effect that it provides. This tea is perfect for that because I get enough of the buttery, apple-like flavor of the chamomile but the hint of juicy citrus keeps it from being too bland or meal in flavor. A cup of this before bed, or on a lazy weekend morning is absolutely divine. I take mine as is, but if you like a hint of sweetener I suggest a dot or two of agave nectar.
