To me, this one doesn’t taste a whole lot like passion fruit. I am not sure what it tastes like. It isn’t bad or anything, I just can’t quite put my finger on it. I did chose to get distinctive flavour instead of robust becuase I had a few issues with the fruity flavours in robust tasting chemical, so this could be the problem. I also did not add any sweetener because I wanted to try it plain first, as is my usual with trying flavoured matcha.

The dry matcha has a slight hint of passion fruit. More tart than sweet. The taste is a sweet, fruit flavour. I don’t want to say it is generic fruit because it isn’t, but it is familiar. Maybe just tropical tasting. Or maybe a bit more like guava, not sure. There is a slight hint of a waxy flavour.

In other news, I am finding this matcha, as well as the last flavour I tried, is quite lumpy. It lumps quickly even after sifting. And it does not dissolve very well at all. I used the same basic grade matcha as I always get. So I am not sure if it the flavouring or the matcha.

I made this cold shaken, 8 oz water. I will try adding some sweetener for tomorrow and see if I can squeeze out a bit of passion.

That is so good to know. I’ve been eyeing this one since I love passionfruit but had a feeling it wouldn’t be that accurate.

Sipdown. Had these matchas in my fridge for a while now, it’s time to let go. I’m not a milk lover and with water they don’t taste all that good. At least not these low grade that I bought just to try.

The last dregs of this was tossed in a smoothie with fresh berries, banana, yogurt, honey and milk. Couldn’t make out the matcha. It was also a bad idea to add the berries because it made my smoothie a yucky brown (green + red = brown).

Bye passion fruit matcha. You were too much work for not a lot of fun.

Whoa, dude.

Fjellrev

DId it at least taste like real passion fruit?

Nxtdoor

Yes, it tasted like passion fruit. I am not sure if you’re emphasizing the word “real”. To me it tasted fruity just fine. I had a full pouch. The few times that I did use it just with milk I was pleased with the flavour. I was actually happy with all the red leaf matchas (English toffee, tropical fruit, passion fruit and caramel)

Last week, I got a donut with passionfruit icing, so I’ve really been craving more passionfruit stuff. And the donut, but it’s a pain to get over to this donut shop so I was hoping maybe this matcha could curb the cravings because the passionfruit part was the best part!

This tastes very similar to the passionfruit frosting when I add agave, but of course with matcha, which last I checked is probably a much better base for something passionfruit flavored than a donut, at least for waistlines.

I tend to add milk to matcha when I have it cold because it’s too much for me if I don’t; I was worried it would clash with the passionfruit, but it is a non-dairy variety of milk from coconut. I FINALLY got the one I have been searching for, and it was $2.75 for half a gallon to boot. My closest Publix doesn’t ever have a damn thing I’m looking for, so I went to the newest one around here, complete day and night difference. Sad because I like them but abandoning stores because they had been doing poorly is rude.

Okay that’s not really related but I had to go pick some up to try my new matchas. And it’s still annoying me.

I try not to get passionfruit flavored teas cause I know they’ll never compare but this one is easily the best (for example it blows that Maracuja flavored tea from Upton out of the water) with no competition. I didn’t think it was that hard to get passionfruit right given it’s fascinating to us here being all “exotic” so to speak.

I bought it with the Belgium chocolate one and I’m gonna mix them after I try that one by itself. Oh yes, passionfruit and chocolate are amazing together.

Alphakitty

Mmm, passionfruit and chocolate! Sounds divine.

Hesper June

This tea sounds delish…but I must admit I cant get the donut with passion fruit icing out of my head!

momo

It was incredible, I never would have thought to make an icing with passionfruit, let alone put it on a donut!

Passion Fruit Matcha

Wow this one whisks up really nicely! Granted I am getting better at whisking and making a nice froth on top of my matcha but this one was easy peasy! I have noticed some matcha flavors mix more easily than others for some reason and since I do make more than one matcha many days its not just due to me being better one day versus another. This one whisked up to a very full forth quite easily! I note this because I know froth is really something many of us struggle with especially when we are new to matcha so I wanted to make a note of it for those of you who may feel deflated by not getting a good foam. Get this one and you can feel stellar! lol

Now as for taste, I am not one who has had a lot of passion fruit in their life, other than in smoothies I have got from smoothie places and those are usually so riddled with sugars and other fruits picking out the passion fruit itself was a little difficult especially not having passion fruit in and of itself.

Now I get to taste real passion fruit! Yay!

It has a bit of this natural rind like flavor similar to that you sometimes get in a mango or papaya. Fruits I do have personal experience with. I like it though – it really compliments the natural grassy like flavor of the matcha base! And contrary to the smoothies I have had its not that sweet. There is a tart flavor to it but not bitter. It tastes REALLY healthy, and while matcha is always healthy sometimes I feel guilty having my dessert like matcha lol although I shouldn’t such as my favorite butterscotch mathca makes me feel like I’m cheating haha this one makes me feel like I am really doing something good for my body and trust me my body needs all the help it can get!

The aroma of this one is really quite nice! It is very eye opening and even if its only a mental thing I sure can use that in the mornings!

There is the after taste of the rind like flavor but the passion fruit flavor makes my mouth water for more, literally, as if the juices itself are pulling out the watery mouth sensation! Its strange but nice. Its like having a mouth full of juicy passion fruit!

So I drank half of my matcha straight, then added some sparkling italian water and some sweet cream non dairy creamer to make an italian soda and OMG goodness! The flavors ERUPT into a juicy fruit gum sensation which is similar in some ways to the brandy matcha I am going to review next! It is different though as the brandy also has alcohol notes to it whereas this one does not. This is like the virgin variable you give your kids while you have the brandy one haha. Except this has that lovely awakening rind flavor in the background that lingers in the after taste.

This is one of the more difficult flavors to describe but again probably due to my lack of experience with Passion Fruit.

My matcha was composed of the following:

Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Robust
Storage : Add Small Metal Tin Container (Holds up to 45g)

Backlog:

OK, this is the last of my backlog entries for this evening … unless I get to a point sometime this evening where I can’t sleep. (It’s been known to happen.)

I really like this Passion Fruit Matcha. Sweet, fruity, tart, and unlike the Kiwi Matcha that I previously reviewed, I didn’t find this to be a “candied” fruit taste and I’m happy about that. The sweet-tart taste of the passion fruit pairs nicely with the sweet, buttery, smooth taste of the matcha.

Really good in smoothies too!

I bought this a while back when it was on sale (options: classic, regular, distinctive), and have only just now gotten around to really trying it. I wanted to have a few cups of it before I wrote a review, but I think I can honestly say this is my favorite passion fruit flavored…anything that I’ve ever had (outside of a real passion fruit, that is!). From what I’ve seen it’s one of the hardest fruit flavors to imitate, and this matcha does it very well.

When mixed up with milk, this is smooth and creamy. The fruit flavor is tastes real and balances beautifully with the matcha, and the matcha sweetens the fruit and keeps it from being too tart—the only problem I sometimes have with passion fruit flavored things. I have not yet tried this mixed up with water, but I like the consistency of it with milk so much that I might not try it with water at all. It’s a little bit like deconstructed ice cream, and it’s a little bit addictive.

As a side note, I have found a solution to clumpy matcha drinks: a cheap hand-pump milk frother. It’s much easier to deal with than the blender for making matcha every day, and I’ve found it wakes me up much better than black tea.

Way to go!

=0) i’m quite pleased. i spend a decent amount of time at the gym and scale wise there’s been a change, but the inches are more significant. the key for me seems to be NOT to cut out fat. so chucking in avocado or cream holds me for longer but also seems to encourage me to lose….. through some amazing fact of counterintuitiveness. just keep doing what i’m doing! and yay red leaf!

TeaBrat

yay for you!
