I needed good sheng energy today (AKA sheng tripping)…
I planned on being a tea noodle all day and just take it easy, but this gave me such good energy, I had to go swimming for a while. (But I came back to being a tea noodle right after).
Mao cha is beautiful to look at. Silvery dark strands, super long and rigid, they beg for hot water to soften and relax.
The first steeps are so fresh, bright and mineral, with citrusy notes. Slightly astringent, but nothing offensive. I also get that very light camphor taste I have come to appreciate so much. I get the tingling tongue, which is always fun :-)
At around the 5th steep, it gets sweeter and smoother, spicy notes are also developing. It’s not woodsy or smokey at all, just pure and clean. I also get peachy notes, the type you find in white tea.
I’ve been sipping on those leaves all afternoon. This tea is fantastic, so glad I’ve included it in my order.
It gave me such a warm feeling, I feel invigorated and ready to watch the supermoon tonight with other Steepster members, from a distance…Fun!!!
