The dry leaf is one of the nicest smelling chamomile blends I’ve encountered. It has such a lovely floral fragrance, together with notes of apple and ginger, it makes for a very intriguing scent. Once brewed, it loses some of its original charm. It doesn’t smell off-putting or anything, but, it just doesn’t smell quite as delightful as it does dry.

This is pretty good. The chamomile is the strongest flavor, and it brews up a little murky, but not quite as dusty looking as some tea bags, so that is a good thing. The ginger is strong but not as strong as the chamomile, so this doesn’t come off as too spicy, just gently spiced. The apple is more of a back note – I can taste it, but it isn’t real prevalent.

It’s tasty.

Hmm I think there’s something wrong with my sample… it’s weak despite I have extended the recommended steeping time for 2 more minutes! But perhaps it’s not a bad thing because I am not really a fan of chamomile, so I am glad that its taste isn’t too overwhelming in this tea. Ginger is a dominant note too – probably it has neutralized the herbal flavour of chamomile to some extent. I can’t detect the presence of apple but the tisane is clearly sweeter than other chamomile blends.

Ingredients: cut ginger, chamomile, dried apple, fennel, blue mallow

This was my first chamomile tisane, so this opinion will not be expert!

I did not care for the taste of chamomile when I first got this, because the sort of floral/soapy smell put me off. However, I kept trying it for a warm drink in the evenings and started really liking it.

Ginger and fennel seed are traditionally used for warming and blood circulation, while the mallow and chamomile are for relaxing. It’s overall nice for digestion and seems to attack insomnia from both the being too-keyed-up and my-feet-are-cold causes. The apple is a subtle and comforting touch.

I recommend steeping this in a clear vessel- the mallow flowers in it initially turn the water an almost glowing blue! Over the course of a few minutes, that color changes slowly to green, then yellow as the chamomile releases its color into the infusion.

One downside – the flowers in it are very fine, so if you use a tea strainer or an in-pot guard rather than a disposable bag, they plaster all over the place and it’s difficult to clean.

I’m sorry that Lupicia doesn’t seem to stock this any longer- I liked it enough that I may try to blend the ingredients myself to make more once it’s gone.

This is interesting. Good sleepy-time tea. The chamomile is definitely the dominate note, and makes for a mellow brew. But then the ginger comes sidling up to you and makes your tongue tingle, but just as you become aware of its spiciness it’s neutralized by the light sweetness of apple.
