Sipdown! (4 | 159)

Poor tea! I got this in a group order at the end of 2020, and I hadn’t even tried it until last month. Oops? :P

It’s nice enough, with the combination of jasmine and peach done very well. The peach, of course, is lovely and natural, one of Lupicia’s specialties I would say. It’s almost slightly underripe, crisp, and quite delicate as well, with the floral jasmine melding in nicely. I’m not really a fan of black-green blends, but this is certainly a nice one. I can taste both the fruity and slightly tannic Darjeeling and the more smooth and grassy green tea.

I don’t think I’ll personally reorder this one, just because I’m not a huge fan of peach in tea in the first place, and I don’t think I need more than my favorite Momo Vert in my cupboard. Fun to try though!

I brewed this one twice. The first time I goofed and blended it with an unsmoked lapsang not realizing that it had a delicate Darjeeling base. I steeped it on its own the second time and it was perfect – it didn’t need to be blended with anything.

The tea smells perfumey but not in that heavy, cloying way that some jasmine teas do. Jasmine hits the nose first and is followed by rose water and a little nectarine. Thankfully, the brewed tea isn’t as strong as it smells. It’s got a subtle jasmine flavor, light malt, and a kiss of peach. A white grape sweetness emerges as it cools. Tastes similar to my Verdant Tea Yunnan Golden Jasmine black tea but I find the addition of the peach delightful.

I was opposed to the peach flavoring at first – it reminded me of those jellies with artificial flavoring. Once I got past that, it was great, though. Strongly jasmine and peach in the aroma, and mostly just the jasmine and green tea in the flavor. Good stuff, I’d say.

Today, I feel that autumn is finally here after the hottest summer in my life! I’ve been drinking mostly green tea and oolong tea the whole summer; with the slightly cooler weather today, I decided to have a cup of black and green tea blend… with a little bit of peach (my favourite fruit in summer). :)

This was a nice tea. It had the depth of black tea, the sweetness of green tea, the fragrance of jasmine, and an undercurrent of peach flavour. It made me happy. Though I must say I am a bit disappointed that only peach flavouring rather than real peach was used in making this tea :P
