A very interesting and summer feeling herbal tea, which reminds me of a mix of fresh spearmint and watermelon. Which I find all the more interesting considering that the tea contains spearmint but not any watermelon so it must be the mix of the citrus and other herbs that when mixed together recreates the flavor of watermelon.

Brewed this with nearly boiling water and left teabag in while drinking it hot. I am always looking to try herbal blends. Some of my favorite ‘teas’ are herbal blends. This one looked interesting. Lipton is really hit or miss for drinkability in my book. Their pyramid tea bags like this one tend to be better.

The aroma is pretty good. I smell mint and melon and it puts me in the mood to like the drink. The taste is really more like chamomile and mint equally balanced with a hint of melon. There is a bit of an off taste in the after taste though and I’m not a huge fan of chamomile. But, this is entirely drinkable and a still good option at work when not looking for caffeine.

I daresay this is the fastest I’ve ever finished up a tisane, although this isn’t a particularly big box of them. While I’m hesitant to try any of Lipton’s real teas, I figured they couldn’t screw up mint — and I was right!

This is a nice blend of flavors: minty but not overpowering, with a touch of fruitness that really complements the mint. There’s a notable taste of chamomile as well, and that’s where it could be much improved in my book — it’s just intruding on the flavors that are actually good!

Overall, though, it’s hard to go wrong with mint + fruit in my book. Tasty!

This was another one of those “things I need for my non-loose leaf travel mug to steep quickly and bring to seminars and/or meetings and it was on sale at the store” purchases.

And…yuck. I don’t know what it is about melon and mint together, but I now know I do not, under any circumstances, like this combination. The citrus in this one (a new flavour combination for me) added to the grossness factor, since it was just so darn unexpected to be in there. And it wasn’t TRULY citrus…lemongrass, maybe? I don’t know. But it wasn’t pleasant.

Verdict: will not buy again. So many other pyramid-bags I like better from Lipton’s.

The product I bought was probably the same, but the packaging was a little different. The large white letters on the front of the box say “Melon Citrus Mint,” not “Melon Citrus Mint Infusion.” There was no French caption following the English words.

Overall, a fairly good herbal tea, fairly well balanced. The mint is subtly noticeable, definitely not overpowering. Unlike many fruit teas, it is not sour.

I think Lipton has done something wrong in marketing this tea, though. The ingredients list is long, but one of the most present ingredients is chamomile. Lipton does not clearly indicate that the tea has chamomile in the name of the tea or on the packaging. Chamomile really is a soporific, and Lipton should do more to make consumers aware that the tea has chamomile, so that no one takes chamomile without wanting to.
