From ESP Emporium

Vanilla is considered the queen of all spices. The Aztecs used to season their famous chocolate drink with vanilla. The vanilla pod is the fruit of an orchid species which has its home in Mexico. The hand-pollinated blossoms produce ripe fruits after eight months, and are then treated in a complicated fermentation process. The pods change color and develop their full aroma. The exquisite, intense and very popular taste of vanilla harmonizes marvelously with our black tea blend.

Ingredients: black tea, flavoring, vanilla pieces.

Serving Size: 1 level tsp./6oz serving

Brew Temp: 203 to 212 degree F

Brew Time: 4 to 5 Minutes

This is the first of many I will be trying from Muppetlove! YAY! Thanks so much!

Awwwww yeah! THAT’s some Niiice Vanilla! And YES! That’s NICE with 3 i’s!

This has a satisfying medium strength black tea base and the Vanilla is dreamy and creamy.

This is CHARMING.

Not caring for this. I did multiple steeping times and temps. It is just not good. The vanilla is artificial and cheep tasting. I know teas that have wonderful vanilla flavorings. There is no reason for it to taste this bad. Shame.

If you need someone to take it off your hands, I volunteer! :)

Mastress Alita’s January sipdown challenge Tea #6: A tea with bean notes

So I might be cheating here in two ways – my brain doesn’t usually associate tea with bean flavors, so I say it’s VANILLA BEAN. And the second way I’m cheating — since I didn’t have any vanilla teas that were close to sipdowns, I thought I would allow myself one pass a month to count one challenge tea as NOT an official sipdown, as long as it was the oldest of that type I am drinking and counting for the challenge – so for example, my oldest vanilla tea and not something newer. This is the oldest vanilla I have. Not quite a sipdown yet, but I’ll get there.

Crowkettle

Well played :)

Good job! Wow, that sounds like a good one, 97!

Mastress Alita

I also drank a vanilla tea for this one. I already sipped down all my Chinese greens (which always taste like beans to me).

Mastress Alita

Also, the challenge just says “drink a tea”… nowhere does it indicate that it MUST be a sipdown. Every cup is still progress towards a (eventual) sipdown. :-)

Crowkettle

For the prompts last year none of the teas I drank for were sipdown notes. This year I decided to only check off applicable teas I manage to finish off (so far) – but that’s because I want an extra challenge right now. :)

Mastress Alita – I probably haven’t made it far enough in the tasting notes yet to see you also chose a vanilla tea. And I’m in the same boat as CrowKettle – last year they didn’t need to be finished teas, but this year I like the challenge. :D

And using the Mastress Alita ingredient search, I think this tea is this one – even has the same description: http://www.dethlefsen-balk.us/ENU/15930/Item.aspx?FromNo=15908&ItemNo=22421 Maybe my opinion on a new version wouldn’t be 97 though..

If you like creamy black teas, you’d like this one. Vanilla taste is subtle, but satisfying.
