From ESP Emporium

Just imagine: lying under a coconut palm tree on a Caribbean beach, listening to the sea and enjoying the sun. This cocktail classic brings about the lazy Caribbean feeling, which you can now enjoy in a non-alcoholic version. The combination of fruity fresh pineapple with creamy, sweet coconut brings exotic pleasure. Accordingly, the tea is decorated with coconut and pineapple pieces – a feast for the eyes. This top seller, as well as its counterparts on other bases, should be part of each assortment. A creamy tropical classic cocktail, which can be enjoyed hot or as a delicious ice tea version.

Ingredients: Rooibos tea, pineapple cubes (pineapple, sugar), coconut shreds, flavoring.

Serving Size: 1-2 level tsp./6oz serving

Brew Temp: 203 to 212 degree F

Brew Time: 8 to 10 Minutes

This tea has the distinction of having both weak flavor and artificial-tasting flavor. SIGH. I am so done with this company. Every rooibos has been a miss (minus one – but the only reason I didn’t hate it was because the flavor was weak). I have some regular tea I bought from them so maybe I’ll try those next to see if they are any better.

I am really baffled because previous reviews said the flavor was really strong. Maybe the company just has a large quantity in stock and it sits on the shelf for a long time losing flavor?

Really strong coconut and pineapple flavours make me wonder if it’s all natural. I do see tiny flecks of coconut and dried pineapple (maybe freeze-dried). Compared with 52tea’s Piña Colada Honeybush, this one is MUCH stronger in the expected flavours (however, red rooiboos instead) but does it make a difference if one “cheats” with chemicals? Right now I like it and the price is good. 250 gm/$20.95 so this should last me a while and it stretches my enjoyment of the other one too. Haven’t mixed the two yet; not sure if that would improve either though.

I have no experience with this vendor and prefer the no chemical approach to flavored teas but I have noticed that rooibos blends – regardless of the vendor – seem to impart more flavor.

I thought this was a pretty decent rooibos tea. I could detect both the pineapple and coconut flavor (I added a small amount of rock sugar), but neither was overwhelmingly strong. I’ve had it twice as a wind-down evening tea, and I’ve enjoyed it both times. It’s not good enough to get again, but I’ll happily finish what I have.

(Sample from silentrequiem. Thanks!)

This wasn’t bad, per say, but when I think of Pina Colada tea, my love is Davidstea Tropicalia and this, while not bad, doesn’t even compare. I sweetened it, because without sweetener it was just ho-hum, but even sweetened, there is a bit of a sour taste in the back of my mouth and I can’t figure out what it is. It’s a little bit creamy, but not as creamy as Tropicalia. There’s a bit of pineapple and coconut taste, but not as much as Tropicalia – sorry I guess this review is a bit of a broken record. Not bad, by any means, but eh, I wouldn’t purchase.

Hmm… I must say, I really hesitate to try or order teas that contain coconut, just because it goes soapy very quickly, and then goes bad after that. But I figured I’d give this one the benefit of the doubt, plus there’s a large amount of it so I’m not taking the opportunity away from anyone else after me. There are tiny pieces of coconut and chunks of candied pineapple mixed in with the red rooibos base. Dry scent is mostly pineapple.

Oof, as soon as I lifted the brew basket out of my mug, I could smell soap. I can smell the lovely candied pineapple and a little bit of coconut, but there’s quite a strong soapy aroma. Oh well, I’ll give it a try anyway, for science! It tastes like… mint? What? I can taste creamy coconut as well, but no pineapple. What a strange blend.
