From Drink The Leaf

This organically grown tea was brought in by popular demand. Fall is a perfect time to introduce Earl Grey . A blend of crinkly jet black and dark brown tea leaves intermingled with organic bergamot flavoring. The bergamot is prominent, but not overwhelming. The liqueur – it’s a wonderfully bright toffee color. The bouquet is enticing. Rich, dark strong black tea with orange and citrus aromas. Clean flavors on the palate, and a bold citrus finish. Enjoy straight or add milk for a truly British experience.

It’s not often when I’m surprised by an Earl Grey, but this is one of those times. I’m not sure what black tea source they used. I’d guess Darjeeling…-ish. It’s very “orange pekoe” in appearance. The liquor that results is also very balanced. They didn’t over-flavor this with the bergamot to mask an inferior black tea base. It’s floral, malty, mildly citrus-sour – an Earl Grey by any other name wouldn’t taste as sweet.
