Strange VariaTEA TTB: Tea 4

I had this as a latte. It smelled and looked like Cocoa Canela so I had high hopes for this one. The first sip even tasted a bit like Cocoa Canela. But then the spices built and they’re just too strong for my tastes. This was heavy pepper and ginger and while normally I like the burn, this just got too almost savoury for my liking. Thanks for the chance to try it though, Roswell Strange!

Officially back to being able to say I’ve tried every single tea offered by DAVIDsTEA in store or online (currently) since I made myself a cup of this to sip on during my walk home from work yesterday!

I think there must be more chaga in this than in Choco Chaga Detox because this one definitely made my mouth more itchy/scratchy feeling – damn allergies! However, that could have just also been at least partly due to the spices in here as well? Like, the black pepper was pretty strong, as far as I’m concerned. Otherwise the cinnamon and chocolate combo was quite lovely! Reminded me a lot of Cocoa Canela! It’s a little frustrating for me that I seemed to enjoy this one a lot, because I worry now that I’ll crave that flavour combo…

And, as has been stated, I am allergic to this. However, clearly my reaction is not severe enough to stop me from drinking it all together. So, I’ll just have to weigh the pros/cons of delicious Mexican Hot Chocolate tasting tea vs. a scratchy mouth for a few hours.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

Wow, this one smells spicy! Definitely chai. Finally got around to trying my sample of this tea today, and I’m having it as a hot latte, with cinnamon on top – and my, is it delicious. Such a warming treat on a cold snowy night like tonight. I steeped it for 3.5 mins and added some sugar, and its really good. I can’t really pick out each individual spice, but overall its a great blend, making a perfect chai latte. I definitely need to buy some on my next online order!

When I opened the package to smell Chaga Chai, the aroma made my nose tingle lol The spices are strong with this one. I can definitely smell each spice in this blend. This makes a good spicy latte. It’s definitely drinkable but not one that I would buy again.
