From DAVIDsTEA

Pick of the season
Rich and complex, our Darjeeling is specially selected from the season’s best estate offerings, then carefully blended to ensure the perfect balance of flavours. Its aromatic woodsy leaves steep into a clear, golden and satisfyingly astringent liquor, while unique and refreshing mountain air notes mingle with the classic Darjeeling muscatel flavour. Truly the champagne of teas.

Update: Now Sold As Himalayan Blend

I actually steeped this Darjeeling at a much lower temperature as I like my high-altitude teas steeped that way, and it was most excellent. It was musty and had a very fruity \‘GRAPE\’ kind of note to it. It was so utterly delicious and i drank the whole cup naked, and had another. Even when the tea was cooled, it retained the deliciousness throughout and it was very pleasant over all. Buying a tin.

This tea was one of the 3 samples I received with my order. The tea leaves are more broken than I thought… and there’s not much flavour in the tea until I use more tea leaves (not sure if it’s because I got the sample half a year ago). It’s kind of earthy and woodsy, which means it’s not the flowery kind of Darjeeling that I like… I usually enjoy Darjeeling but this is sadly not my cup of tea.

This one just didn’t cut it. I generally prefer full bodied black teas with noteable earthiness. This one was just too light… and a little musty. The dry leaves had a bit of an alfalfa type scent to them along with the traditional (but lighter) black tea scents. This one didn’t steep up very strong, and more time did not improve the flavour. I’ll be leaving this one on DT’s shelves instead of taking it home to mine.

I am not a huge fan of black teas so it usually tastes something fantastic to convince me in this category. That being said this tea is fantastic! I didn’t even add milk to it like I do with my earl grey and I still found it delicious.

I got this as a sample with one of my online orders from DAVIDsTEA a few months back. I kind of forgot about it til now.

First off, wow this does have a strong taste! My usual teas are the flavoured kind, so they’re a little more on the sweet or nutty side. This one is rather bitter compared to what I’m used to. I’m glad I didn’t let it steep for any longer.

It tastes kinda grassy and earthy to me. I don’t really have much else to say about it. I’m trying to like it, but in the end, I can’t say I do. It’s not outright gross, I wouldn’t refuse it if it were offered to me, but unfortunately it’s not my idea of something pleasant to drink. Ah well!

At my brother’s urging, I tried a cuppa this. It was tasty, but…I don’t know. A bit too musty for my tastes. Which isn’t a bad thing, it’s just…well, not my cup of tea! De liked it, though, so yay!

My second Darjeeling – it is a pleasant tea with the characteristic bite. It is self drinking, but full enough to stand a drop of milk (for my preferences).

Recently returned from Darjeeling and have been searching around for a comparable tea since. Experimented with a few that didn’t quite fit the bill, but this one is fantastic! The search is over, DAVIDsTEA is it.
