From DAVIDsTEA

What’s citrus, spice and everything nice? Orange Spice Matcha! We started with a creamy and energizing matcha base, then coupled it with sweet, cooked orange, comforting cinnamon and warming clove for a cozy sprinkle of spice. A cup of matcha so good, it puts the “zing” in “amazing.” Sip it hot, on ice or whipped up as a latte—there’s no wrong answer.

What makes it great

A cozy, must-sip matcha to keep you warm during the cooler seasons.

Made with an energizing matcha base to give you a delicious boost of energy.

Hot, iced or as a latte? This matcha goes three ways!

Cane sugar, Matcha green tea, Natural (orange, cinnamon) flavouring.

For most of this cup, this really didn’t taste like anything. I mix it with cold milk, so maybe that isn’t the best preparation. Or perhaps I should have used less milk (these advent samples seem to each do best with a slightly different amount of milk). During my last few sips, I was really searching for the flavor, and I tasted a bit of…something. Mild spices, I guess. It tastes pleasant, but it should be several times stronger. Maybe I get a bit of orange too, it’s just a bit frustrating to have to search for the flavor like this. I didn’t even taste the matcha.

We had some returning matchas added to the site for fall last week, as well as this one brand new flavour! I’ll be honest, I usually associate spiced orange profiles with late Autumn and Winter when it’s super cold and chilly outside. Thankfully that isn’t quite the case yet here in Montreal; but I’ve been craving this matcha regardless! What I love is that, though it does have distinct orange and cinnamon notes, the flavours aren’t as intense as other teas with this profile – and that makes the taste feel a lot less seasonally locked in for me! Plus, you can always just add more if that intensity is something you’re looking for!

The actual song I paired with this tea was called BEES but I couldn’t find it on Youtube so here’s another equally good song by the same band.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
