From Celestial Seasonings

After World War II, green tea supplies in Japan were greatly depleted. To extend their precious supply and to bring the cost of tea down, peasant farmers began adding toasted brown rice to the green tea. Saphara Gen Mai Cha is made with sencha green tea, which is plucked and gently steamed the same day to produce the smoothest flavor and retain the most delicate character of the green tea leaf. The delicate sweetness of sencha green tea enhanced with the nutty flavor of rice remains a favorite blend today and is enjoyed by people of all classes all over the world.

Ingredients: Organic green tea, organic toasted brown rice and organic Fair Trade Certified™ sencha green tea.

Character: Subtly sweet, round, green, leafy character with notes of toasted rice

Add-ins: Best enjoyed just the way it is!

Appearance: Earthy shades of green and brown, highly textured with whole grains of rice

used a bag of this to make a simple ochazuke (green tea rice soup) for breakfast using some leftover rice & edamame. Mmmm…

Cofftea

I’d use a different green tea, but the general idea sounds good! But for breakfast?
