From California Tea House

White Peony, also known as Pai Mu Tan, is a close cousin to Silver Needle. White Peony uses the young, unopened buds of the tea plant as well as the center needle sprout. After a natural aging and withering process, White Peony produces a fuller flavor and greater potency than Silver Needle.

So simple, so aromatic & so delicious!

I love white teas. I have been getting more into them lately & this flavor peaked my interest when I was at the California Tea House site. The reviews on their site were as positive as they are here on Steepster, so I picked up a sample bag.

I love the smell when you open this bag. There is something amazing about it. It smells sorta Earthy & yet there is something else, but I can’t quite name it. Maybe a light floral scent?

So I brew a pot. During the process a friend calls to say they are dropping over. No problem. I’ll share.

And then the first cup…delightful. Very light & inviting. Warming on this chilly NY night. Very flavorful even if I can’t quite name the undertones. But it definitely is a white tea, there is no doubt about it. And it’s a definite keeper.

I’ll be adding a bigger bag to my next California Tea House order.

I think I’ll kick off the weekend with a pure white tea this morning like White Peony. Refreshing!

Such a simple, smooth and slightly sweet tea. I’m on 5 days in a row with this Peony.

This reminds me of a Silver Needle that I paid 10x this price for from American Tea Room. I wonder…

Did you order from them offline?? I placed an order with them but they never sent me a shipping conformation nor did they respond to my e-mail, so i’m a little worried. How long did it take for your tea to arrive?? Thanks — Jim

I did not expect this much floral sweetness out of this simple looking tea. The leaves I thought looked slightly broken, but it could just be the bag I got. The taste is wonderful.
