SIPDOWN! (250)

While this has been an enjoyable tea that was free, i can understand why it’s not regularly stocked at Butiki. It’s just not up to Stacy’s standards. That being said, it’s still a nice bold tea that was enjoyable while i had it..and it was free lol so yay!

I think that’s what m starting the day with tomorrow :D

Sil

i haven’t even been able to plan that yet… parents called, had to organize another couple swap packages going out the door…needed to do a tasting comparison… it’s like 10pm and it’s just about time for bed and i finally have a moment to try and get organized for tomorrow lol

Sil

oh…and did i mention that i’m still being taunted by the american tea room for some brioche tea…

Terri HarpLady

I dont usually plan my teas too much, but I’m staying over at Tony’s tonight, so I had to bring something, otherwise I’d get stuck drinking Ahmad’s breakfast blend…

Terri HarpLady

AND it sounds like you need a 12 step meeting, hahahaha

Sil

lol i pick out 2 teas every night for making in my travel mugs the next day. When i’m doing loose leaf at work i also pack up pre-measured little tins of 3-4 kinds of tea so that i have options at work. heh morning teas are always a straight black + something else.

Terri HarpLady

One of the pleasures of being self-employed is that I usually don’t have to go anywhere in the morning, so I can be more laid back. I’m still using a checklist, which resembles a crazy menu with scribbling comments, check marks, etc. , in an effort to actually drink everything I have, so I pick a black tea that isn’t checked off yet that I’m in the mood for. Then I pick another. Today I cheated & drank a bunch of Keemuns back to back, LOL.

I’ve arrived at the Argosy Casino in Alton, IL. I’m all set up to play & my harp is tuned up.
This was my driving tea: bold, bright, tart.

Strange – no description or picture?! I’d fix it but I don’t have the time right now!

Anyhow, thanks to Boxermama for letting me sample this one :) Hopefully I have kept it straight from the other Khongea assam I just brewed up… (we’ll see if I notice any flavour differences?)

Flavourwise, this is a decent straight black tea, to me. I can taste some maltiness, but also some astringency (and I even steeped under the recommended time). The astringency is turning the flavour a bit bitter, which I’m not fond of, so I’m kind of glad I only have samples of both of these, instead of entire packets.

Comparing this to the Khongea Golden Tippy Assam, all I’m picking out as a difference is that the tippy version is perhaps a bit sweeter. The leaf definitely looks different, with the golden tippy version fitting the name, but the overall flavours are very similar.

An interesting taste-test, but as I said, glad to only have small samples as these would not be favourites.

Thanks again Boxermama!

I didn’t do a picture or description for this tea. I received a few packages of this tea by mistake and was told to keep it. So, I offered 1 ounce of it to customers for free when they purchased an ounce of the tippy Assam. I didn’t want to bother with a description or picture. We ran out of it pretty quickly. I wasn’t really a big fan of this one.

Kittenna

Ahhh, gotcha. I didn’t really look anything up about it :)

This is a sample kindly sent by Sil
I can taste a medium astringency I often have with assams even if I have only steeped this blend 3 minutes. But it is tolerable. I get the astringency from the first sip until the very last.
I get pleasant malty and robust notes with this tea as well.

Not my favourite but not bad despite the astringency

i should send you some of the teas from taiwan tea crafts one of these days.

Ysaurella

how are they ? I normally love all the unflavoured BT but this one was just different for me !

Butiki Teas

Ysaurella-This one wasn’t part of our tea line. We received this by mistake and got it for free. We then gave it out as a bonus for customers who purchased our tippy golden Assam. This one wasn’t up to our standards but made a nice bonus gift.

Ysaurella

I know Stacy, I think it can really be appreciated because it is really a very decent tea but it is just not for my taste.

Butiki Teas

That’s how I feel about it too. I tried it once and well it wasn’t bad but there was nothing that made me want to add it to our line or make another cup of it.

Sil

Yeppers! Nice to have, nice to share, but nothing to keep around permanently heh

This was a nice bold cup for the morning. I’m feeling super tired even though I had an exceptional amount of sleep. I’m still working my way through all of my new teas and this was a good one. Slightly juicy taste that I have been finding with a lot of butiki straight blacks.

I have some of that waiting to be sampled too. I have an early morning gig, maybe I’ll steep a cup to take along.

My morning tea today. I was drinking JD last night and though not hungover I feel a little lagging, I don’t think the clocks changing helped.

This tea has a spicy, rich and earthen scent. A little dry too. The colour of my tea is mahogany.

Flavour is very rich, musky, spicy and strong on first note. It becomes a little sweeter and malted as it cools slightly. Perhaps a little astringent in the after taste but it still makes a good morning cuppa.

I made a ring using the packet sealer whilst I enjoyed this tea. Took a picture :)

This tea smells like a strong black tea.

This tea tastes very rich, and has a hint of maltyness. It has a very fresh taste to it. I made this pot pretty strong (I needed an afternoon pick-me-up). About mid-sip, I hit a bit of a bitter note (which might have something to do with how strong I made it), but it quickly fades away.

I was in the mood for a straight black tea, and this hit the spot.
