Like many in the Austin area, Kimberly Lanski, brewmaster and co-owner of Buddha’s Brew, has devoted a large portion of her life to exploring nutritious whole foods as part of an integrated approach to overall health and wellbeing. In 1996 she founded Love in Oven which supplied some of the first local all vegan cookies to several Austin stores including Whole Foods.
She began making kombucha for herself and her close friends many years ago after she became fascinated by its ability to help the body maintain a healthy metabolic balance. In 2006 at the urging of friends, Kimberly used her homebrewing and culinary experience to create a local brand, Buddha’s Brew.
Buddha’s Brew kombucha is equally tantalizing, invigorating and rejuvenating. Why is it so different from other kombucha teas on the market? The reason is we use traditional culturing methods and bottle full strength without extra-added carbonation. (Excess carbonation can reduce some of the beneficial acids and probiotic benefits found in kombucha.)
We believe that high-quality, effective, probiotic-rich kombucha can and should taste good and does not have to be bitter or excessively sharp. The recipe for each flavor was delicately crafted with this in mind. Kimberly carefully monitors each batch for taste and quality to ensure they meet our high standards in this regard.
Only organic ingredients and fair trade tea are used in our brewing process which takes place in our very own commercial kombucha kitchen/brewery right here in South Austin.
