From my advent calendar. This one wasn’t bad. Not great, but not bad. The hibiscus seemed a little muted which is how I like my hibiscus. I am not a fan of hibiscus as it comes across far to sour for my taste. The Bird and Blend herbal (caffeine free?) advent calendar has had hibby in almost every tea bag so far. That’s okay. I’ve gotten to try quite a few teas I haven’t had before.

Sipdown! (77 | 174)

From the B&B August subscription package.

Not a fan of this one. It must be about half butterfly pea flower, which means if I use a reasonable amount of leaf for a cup, I’m left with a very blue but very weak-tasting infusion. So I used a ton of leaf for this last potful, just to try to get more flavor out of it.

The flavor is fine but very generic fruit tisane-y, with quite a bit of hibiscus tartness and a nonspecific amalgamation of apple and fruits. I do get a little of the peach at the end, with a sort of Peachie-Os gummy flavor. And the color is so intense, I wonder if my tongue will be purple after this…

Apparently, I haven’t been impressed either, two years ago.

I wonder if the butterfly pea trend is nearing the downhill on the roller coaster.

Cameron B.

Lol that would be nice… Normally I don’t mind it so much, but here it was just too much pea flower and not enough other things.

AJRimmer

I just remove the butterfly pea flower before steeping blends that contain it. The color is pretty, but the flavor is too savory for me.

Cameron B.

Honestly I was surprised that I didn’t taste it much in this tisane, considering how much of it there was!

Cold Brew Sipdown (1076)!

I should have snapped a photo of this brew, but I didn’t think to. There was so much small cut pieces of butterfly pea flower at the bottom of my bag of this, though, that it was the richest, most deeply blue infusion I’ve ever seen from a butterfly pea flower tea…

In terms of taste, it was nice! I actually don’t remember a lot about what I thought of this tea from the Battles of The Peaches – so that speaks I think to the memorability/uniqueness of the profile of this tea. I thought this was more blueberry forward, by quite a bit, but still had some nice peach to it. I’d be fascinated to know how much of that impression is unconsciously influenced by the colour of the tea. I like to think that I have a really good palate, and I’m actively aware of how colour can influence your perception of taste – but that doesn’t mean my monkey brain isn’t capable of still falling for that trick! Aside from the blueberry/peach, this is also pretty floral. Not surprised to have a floral note crop up given the presence of butterfly pea flower (and so much of it). It’s a weird kind of floral note – just a hint “musty”.

Happy to have sipped down a herbal tea sample – good tea overall, but not a wildly memorable one. There were better peach teas this summer.

Martin Bednář

Ha, that’s it. I got tricked as well probably, because I remember it much more blueberry like and it is somehow 50/50 with the peach probably?

Heh. Today morning tea. I don’t remember anything. Probably very boring stuff.

Okay. I remember something. It was somehow fruity. Some blueberries and peaches. Yep, it was there.

But blueberries were nice. And some peaches were there too. It wasn’t something super present, but they kinda were there.

The generic fruit base is not helping much though. Maybe bit tart. Maybe some other base would make it better.

And sorry guys if you were expecting some tasting notes from me… yesterday I failed that exam, and overall I felt somehow tired and drained. I drank some teas, but I did not wanted to write a tasting note even it was SIPDOWN of Duvet Day.

Martin, I’m so sorry to hear about your exam. You have done so excellently in other classes, I hope you will not beat yourself up about it. It is an exhausting undertaking – even if it did not go as you planned, it is over! Keep moving forward and everything will be okay.

gmathis

Very much the same sentiments from me! Hope a little rest improves your outlook.

ashmanra

I am sorry you feel tired and drained, so take extra good care of yourself right now. You deserve it! Relax without guilt and give yourself a treat! You have worked hard. You are valued!

Martin Bednář

It was first attempt of three I have. So no bad feelings about that. But of course it made me sad.

Relax? Yep, yesterday was like that a bit. But today I have another exam. Luckily I have for this subject some presentations, so it is much easier to study.

I need a break though.

Nattie

I’m going to echo the same sentiments as everyone else. I’m sorry about your exam, and I hope you’re feeling better now. Remember to take a minute to look after yourself!

mrmopar

Today is a new day Martin! Relax a bit and you will get through it.

Sipdown (350)

Still not my favorite. It’s not bad. It’s just not really that flavorful or distinct. It’s semi-fruity but nothing that is clearly peach or blueberry. It really is just ok and now that it’s gone, I likely won’t really remember it much.

Sil

You’re at 350…..I’m at 15 heh.

VariaTEA

We need a middle ground between us lol

VariaTEA

@Roswell Strange Hahahaha I AM the middle ground between you and Sil

Sil

I’m too low…I’ll be down to nearly 10 in a few days… but I don’t ever want to be back up at 300+. I think 50? Is probably my happy place along with maybe 10 puerh.
