Got a sample of this tea from Hokdor as part of the slackchat Secret Santea tea exchange. The leaf didn’t have much in the way of aroma when dry, but after a rinse, it smelled wonderful. Slightly damp and musty woodiness and a touch of camphor.

I only rinsed it once, and perhaps paid for this as the first steep was a little bit funky tasting, but that went away mostly by the second steep and fully by the third. The flavor started off with some damp woody sweet notes (not dank, just a bit moist) – as it progressed, the woodiness got a little stronger and cleaner. The texture was nice and thick, as shou should be. I didn’t really taste any of the camphorous notes I detected in the aroma. This was a really solid shou, very little fermentation or funkiness to it.

Puerh Tea TTB. This was really good tea. The year wasn’t labeled on the packet so I didn’t realize how old it was. It seemed to have some fermentation flavor but not too much. That flavor was neither fishy or unpleasant though. There was little bitterness in this one and a lot of sweetness. Even perhaps the flavor of dates to go out on a bit of a limb. This was really good. Gave it twelve steeps and could have continued but I have to get ready for a job interview.

I steeped this twelve times in a 150ml gaiwan with 11.5g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse and a 10 minute rest. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1 min, 1.5 min, and 2 min. I’d say if I had the time to continue there were another four or five steeps in the leaves. This was really good tea. I wonder if it is still in stock.

This is one of those rare ripes that smelled so good dry that I just knew it was going to be delicious. I really liked this one. I’m pretty sure there’s more on the Bana site. I’ve thought about getting more myself.

This one was good. If he still has it it’s really tempting.

Super delicious. Overall, the tea never really got too dark and lightened quickly after the first few steeps, but that didn’t stop the flavor train from going strong for 20 steeps..
First steeps are nutty, moving into a smooth, subtle sweetness. A little bit of spice in later steeps. Seems like a good deal.

Eight cups later… TEA SLOSHED
(Someone said it in Chatzy before)

Anyways, I’m going to go drink 10 more cups of this.
I’m not really in a good mood so I decided to drink some good tea and pulled this one out. Great choice.
Oh yeah: 8g and water at 210f

From the Sheng and Shou TTB.

This is a fairly aged shou, which means musty-ness; however, after a couple of rinses/steeps, that went away, and I was left with a fruity sweet and spicy shou. Pretty good!

I love this pu’er! It is super clean, clear and smooth. The flavor is strong but not overly rich and thick. The flavor starts savory with walnuts and earth with a hint of camphor. Later infusion this pu’er gets really camphor minty adding a great refreshing, cooling and awakening feeling, along with a bit of sweetness.
