From American Tea Room

NOW REFORMULATED AS ORGANIC!! Green rooibos is spiked with whole red currants, rose petals and blue mallow blossoms in this exotic berry infusion. Its aroma and flavor are sweet, with powerful strawberry and currant notes. Roasty, earthy tones and a subtly bittersweet aftertaste add a rich complexity to this otherwise frolicking brew. Phenomenal iced.

This tea renewed my love for rooibos. It has one of the best rooibos bases I have tasted in my entire life (and I’ve sipped on a LOT of rooiboses in that time). It is phenomenal! What is really odd is that I can’t taste any woody or mineral flavours from the base at all. I’ve never had a rooibos that didn’t at least have hints of that.

Strong fruity notes of pear and red current. Slightly sweet, but also refreshing (like how fruit is normally slightly acidic but not sour). I can’t tell if I’m tasting apple and maybe some other tropical fruit that I can’t place.

Very creamy, flavours of almond but not nutty.

Slightly drying to my mouth, but not unpleasant at all.

This sounds very impressive indeed.

I bought this tea back in November with the intention of trying it out before giving it to my father. It sure does pack a berry flavored punch, I really like the combination of strawberry and currant. The strawberry adds a much needed sweetness to the blend, but doesn’t mask the tartness of the currants. I think this will make a very refreshing iced tea once the weather warms up some, it’s a shame I didn’t keep any more for myself.
