From Adagio Teas

Classic Japanese green tea, blended with toasted, popped rice. Originally created to stretch short supplies of tea, now enjoyed by tea lovers here and abroad. Warm and nutty with a lovely savory quality. A hearty cup of tea and truly satisfying. A great green tea for someone seeking a substantial, but less astringent, flavor from their cup.

Single teabag from the last TTB. This is a pretty classic genmaicha. I can taste the green tea plus the roastiness. It’s not as smooth and wonderful as one from 52teas, but it equals basically any non-specialty place you might get one.

Advent Calendar from Kaylee: Day 10

ALMOST caught up on my swap advent! And the Yawn one! The other two… not so much.

It’s been such a pleasure getting into tea these last few years and discovering new varieties. I’m still tickled by genmaicha whenever I encounter it; I find the little popped rice bits so whimsical! This is a perfectly serviceable blend, with light roasty-toasty notes and a pleasantly smooth green base. It smells so lovely and nutty, too. There’s not a ton of depth to it, but it’s definitely an enjoyable easy sipper.

TTB

This is a daily underwhelming genmaicha. The toastiness of the rice is lacking and the green base is very meh and bitter.

An Advent Calendar treat again; perfect for a quiet afternoon as our household settles down for a deliciously introverted Christmas. (That’s not a bad thing: married an only child, had an only child, there just aren’t many of us to make noise.) The cats are safely tucked in and curled up in their favorite spots, house smells like candles and cookies, and for a few shining moments, all the laundry is done.

That’s a long preface for a short tea commentary. The green base is light, thin and slightly sweet. The popcorn is , well, perfectly popcorny. Scent is sweet and toasty. Lovely.
