Phil Coulson!
the original fan boy!
(and who wouldn’t be for a captains uniform like Steve’s)
(now come to think of it, it’s pretty easy to imagine Phil drinking tea. it goes with his suits. and perhaps he’d swap samples with Bruce and Natasha.)

it snowed last night and i was hoping for a snow day so i could stay home and drink all my new tea that arrived yesterday. that didn’t happen, but i did still try my first Coulson cup as i tried to watch the opening scene to Agents of Shield. (problem there was no new episode last night)

keeping my story long, i didn’t know what the ingredients were in this blend. i just wanted to get to know Phil. so 30 min later when i was yellllling with enthusiasm at my sister about fanish things while we were trying to defrost her car. i HAD to calm myself down and wonder aloud, ‘what was in that tea’

maté. the answer is maté.

which i never drink. but i should probably drink it before every party.

i think this was my gateway maté.
also, it’s very strong. it’s for when you need to bring out the big guns. and that is totally Phil Coulson.

the smell of this tea is delicious cuz anytime you put adagio’s chestnut or caramel or hazelnut teas in a blend it takes over and smells like cake. yay cake.

so at first the flavor i got from the tea was confusing because i didn’t know it was maté. but now that i understand what i was tasting, i declare Agent Coulson’s tea BADASS. i seriously enjoyed the toasted maté sample i got in a swap way back when, i even thought about buying more, and this is the best way ever to buy more!

i suspect i will be able to get my boyfriend addicted to this tea cuz he’s the real maté drinker in the house, and then i will have an excuse to ALWAYS buy more Phil Coulson if i want.

Agent, report.

oddree

Ahaha you’re going to get your bf to drink Coulson tea. And yes, you were yelling with enthusiasm, but it’s fannish stuff and mate is a good excuse. Well, Coulson is a fanboy, so.

OMGsrsly

Haha! That’s awesome! Mate before every party indeed. :)

TeaLady441

I’d like to… buy… some Coulson.

From shmiracles!

Brewed this and threw it into my timolino. Definitely need the mate to stay awake throughout the day haha.
A really nice blend. Love the taste of toasted mate, and I think I’m starting to love the taste of chocolate-y teas, hence the tiget eye! The chestnut rounds the tea out nicely :)

This cuppa did end up a smidge over steeped though (I followed Adagio’s steeping perameters) so.. maybe cooler water/less time when I drink this next. I’ve got about 2g left of this tea, dang. It’s really good! Def need more mate because of all the huge blocks of classes I have now.

I was trying to wean myself off coffee and everyone at Adagio was raving that this was a great coffee alternative. I’ve tried Yerba Mate before and didn’t really notice any energizing effect but thought I’d give it another shot. It tastes pretty good but it’s definitely not a coffee replacement, for me at least. My SO, on the other hand, got a caffeine-like buzz after drinking it.

MOAR Avengers!

Ok, this one is also pretty great, but it’s Phil, so I expected greatness.

Can I make a small confession? When I first watched Avengers I really didn’t know much about Phil… That was quickly rectified after reading a few Avengers fanfics because Coulson is so freakin’ amazing. He’s an Avengers wrangler and that is no easy feat.

How does it taste? It has lots of roasty mate goodness that makes me think of brisk coffee in the morning, and there’s also a little bit of caramel/nuttiness to add more depth. It’s good, but it’s mostly mate so if that isn’t your thing, stay away.

I think I enjoyed Thor a bit more because of the soft apricot/peach notes, but this is very close…

Thanks Shmiracles!

ETA: Holy. I’m at 178 teas and it’s only the 6th! Guess 150 isn’t too unreasonable a goal for April 30th!

Sil

…sure until all your orders come in hahaha

TeaLady441

Hahah. Well 4 tins from A&D will stay in my cupboard for a year probably, but only increase my number by 4!

And my Steeped and Infused order is mostly samples so easy in and out I hope?

Oh man… guess we’ll see! I probably won’t catch up to you soon, but I AM hoping to slow down on orders. I keep saying that. I keep hoping.

Shmiracles

Phil was created for the Iron Man/Thor/Avengers movies. and then he died and everyone missed him and now he’s in the cartoons and everything. Cuz he is The Best! and this tea is The Best!
i keep drinking it all and buying more!
and i barely ever never do that!

TeaLady441

I remember seeing him in the Ironman movie as a small character but when he died in Avengers I just did not see why everyone was so torn apart about it? But then I read the fic and now I feel the pain when I see it, or I would except it’s pretty much headcanon now that he’s not dead.

I really enjoyed this but I don’t drink a lot of mate so if I ordered more I’d probably go for Thor? But it would be a very close decision. Maybe I’d alternate…

OMGsrsly

This one is really good for waking me up after a sleepless night. (I also didn’t get the whole “Coulson Lives” brouhaha after the movie, but then fanfic enlightened me. :) )

mate…blech. This one’s not terribly bad…the chestnut flavouring helps a little but i am just not a fan of mate. i don’t hate it….it just does nothing for me and most teas with mate in it…all i taste it the mate, dominanting all the other flavours. ah well, thanks for sharing with me shmiracles!

Kaylee

haha I love the name of this one!

I think I might need a caramel toasted mate to help get me going on mornings like today. So out of it. Caffeine good. This is a strong contender, because it’s the only one I’ve had and there is also the awesome name. Too bad Adagio is so hard to get in Canada!

OMGsrsly

Oh! And thank you Shmiracles! This is what happens when you write notes as your bus is arriving – you forget important bits.

TeaLady441

I can’t wait to dig into my Shmiracles samples! I smelled them and am very excited, but wanted to sipdown 40+ samples that were in loose baggies and more exposed! (Protect the samples!!!) I love the bags she uses though. I need to get those!

OMGsrsly

I know, right?! I’ve received so many samples in odour proof bags lately I want some now too. :)

MissB

Ah, this reminds me I still have an Adagio order waiting at the border.
