Chocolate Pumpkin Cheesecake:
Tea of the Week 10/26-11/1

Chocolate pumpkin cheesecake…tea? Yes!

We started with a darker base tea of aromatic Nilgiri and added just a hint of rooibos for balance and smoothness. Then creamy pumpkin, a hint of chocolate fudge, cinnamon, and tart cheesecake come together for a decadent fall dessert experience.

This tea is limited run, so once it is gone, it’s gone for the season. It is sold only in 0.5oz quantities.

All orders come in resealable packaging and include a reusable muslin cotton tea bag.

Ingredients:

Organic Nilgiri Tea, Organic Rooibos Tea, Ceylon Cinnamon, Organic Carob, Organic Cacao Nibs, Vanilla Bean, Mini Semisweet Chocolate Chips, Calendula Petals, Sprinkles.

Brew and Size Instructions:

Use 1-2 teaspoons for a 6 oz cup
Steep for 3-5 minutes in water at 185F

I quite enjoyed this one today. It’s fading the slightest bit, but I’ve been on a chocolate roll lately so that fluffs things up. A bit of chocolate, quite a bit of pumpkin spice, very very little of the cheesecake element coming through. That said, if you ignore the name of the tea and dispose of your expectations, this is a lovely cup.

I just can’t get this one to work for me :(. Dropped the temperature to 190 and left it for just over 4 minutes. It’s definitely better than I recall, and with more sweetness but really not much else is happening. It’s smooth enough but I would never guess chocolate, pumpkin, or cheesecake without knowing beforehand. Even knowing what I’m drinking hasn’t made those elements clear. I suppose this one just isn’t for me.

Sample from dexter that i enjoyed today. I have to say this was pretty much pumpkin spice – in a similar vein to stacy’s pumpkin cheesecake. that is to say, i didn’t much get chocolate either, and i wasn’t blown away by this one. it wasn’t a bad cup of tea, but i’m glad to have had the chance to try it before i picked up a larger quantity myself. thanks for the share dexter!

Hmmmm – not sure how I feel about this one….
Others are saying cinnamon – I’m not getting that – pumpkin spices for sure and there is too much of one of them – clove maybe….. What’s confusing me is that the ingredient list doesn’t include spices other than cinnamon. Sooooo this leads me to believe that there is something funky happening with the cinnamon and rooibos.
I’m getting the pumpkin and the spices (?), nothing that I would call cheesecake, and no chocolate at all.
I don’t hate this, but it’s not living up to expectations. What I do like is the mouth feel – this is really creamy and thick feeling and just gets more so as it cools.

Right on, the last of my Black Friday parcels arrived today. Tea and cosmetics. Score! I already tried two other QTT teas before leaving to run some errands today but I’ll have to try them again before writing about them.

So, this one. Not my thing, unfortunately. It’s the flavourings that I’m having an issue with, particularly the cheesecake. It doesn’t taste like cheesecake at all, but I recognize it from Butiki’s cheesecake blends, which I didn’t like that much either. It tastes almost… dusty? I can’t describe it. But it’s the same nondescript weird undertone I got from Butiki’s cheesecake teas, without a doubt. Then the chocolate note tastes a bit waxy; it tastes like the smell of chocolate-scented candles, if you know what I mean. I think another one I tried earlier today (Mexican Hot Chocolate) had that same vibe but I’ll have to revisit both of these tomorrow to verify that.

I don’t get any pumpkin from this either. I actually forgot this was supposed to have pumpkin in it. So brutal for a first QTT review, sorry, but I have hope for many others!

I wasn’t a huge fan of this one either, but I had plenty of other from them that I loved so there is definitely hope. Also I don’t know how hot you did this one, but the owner advised me to try a slightly less than boiling temp with the chocolate teas

I don’t have a thermometer but I always let my water cool for at least a couple minutes before pouring for black teas, anyway. I’m definitely still looking forward to trying them all!

Of the Quarter to Tea samples I’ve tried so far, this one is my least favorite. It isn’t bad by any means, but I’m really not getting all the flavors the name promises. I taste little bit of chocolate and a hint of cinnamon and nothing that’s screaming “cheesecake”. I have enough tea left to brew a second cup, so I’ll have to try a longer steep time and see if that brings out the flavors more.

Finishing this one off today. I’m having a better time with it than I’ve had previously. I can get a chocolate flavor, some creamy sweetness, and a tangy aftertaste but I definitely wouldn’t place the flavors as pumpkin or cheesecake. This is an enjoyable tea, but I just don’t think it lives up to the name

This also has cinnamon, but it is not in my face like the sweet potato pie. I had to let this cool a minute or two and then the real flavors started to come out. It is a creamy cheesecake with chocolate. Not to bad.

Well this is delicious. I don’t always like cheesecake flavors in tea but this one is rocking my world right now. The chocolate isn’t slapping me in the face – which is a good thing. I just got a nice blended pumpkin cheesecake flavor with a hint of chocolate yum. I think I might be a fangirl.
