AJRimmer Advent Day 15

I’ve had some pretty bad lemon teas in my day (Pledge furniture polish, anyone?) but add in some vanilla and I am here for it! This reminded me of Tazo’s Glazed Lemon Loaf (my favorite bagged tea!) but on a pleasantly malty black tea base. I’m fighting a sore throat, so I added some honey and that really made the sweet bakery notes pop. This was a winner for me!

Oh, wow—Glazed Lemon Loaf with a little fuel behind it!

When I first tried this tea I was somewhat in Pledge-land, but fell in love with in during the last serving. It’s a good lemon!

I mostly just taste lemon rind, with nothing really indicating any sort of baked flavor. It’s a really pleasant lemon tea, but I’ve had lemon teas that also manage to taste like baked goods, and that’s so lovely when you find that. I enjoyed this more sweetened with milk, but it really is just a (very good) lemon black tea.

I enjoyed this one – slightly creamy lemon, and a nice black base. I got some really delicious hints of maltiness while drinking it, which made it stand out from other lemony blacks.

Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge, March 2022: A tea flavored like your favorite pancake/waffle topping

This tea blend smells exactly like its namesake (I don’t remember buying this tea). I had a rough start with my first session, but sessions 2-4 were amazing (documented below). Overtime, I was increasingly reminded me of my favourite crepe: Lemon Sugar (yes, I know there are more exciting dessert and savoury varieties, but this is my absolute favourite. Also, yeesss, a crepe is only technically a pancake but I thrive on technicalities.).

1st attempt: Despite the amazing aroma, it steeped up way too bitter and chemical. Tastes a bit like Lemon Pledge Polish. This was a cup of great sadness.
2nd attempt: Ok, this tastes like something good. Lemon Glaze with powdered sugar on top of a bold malty black tea. Ethereal and brisk all at once!
3rd attempt: Less leaf is definitely better. I can get a delicious second steep out of this though.
4th attempt: aaaaand it’s gone. :(
