Tea of the Week for September 27, 2021!
It’s that time of year again! My favorite season of the year is fall – I love just about everything about it. The changing of the colors – the leaves change from their vivid green to beautiful shades of yellow, orange & red before the fall to the ground. I love the temperature change & especially after this past summer when we had some absurdly high temperatures here in the Pacific Northwest – I’m ready for some cooler weather!
But the thing I think I love most is the FLAVORS of fall – like pumpkin, apple & the warmth of chai spices. The only thing that makes those flavors taste better to me – is to enjoy them with TEA!
This fall inspired tea starts with a Chinese Sencha base – which I selected for this blend because of its sweet flavor – it’s light, crisp & refreshing. Then I added some apples (fuji & granny smith – I used both air-dried & freeze-dried apples in this) as well as some spices: cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg & a little bit of clove. Finally, I added a hint of honey essence (don’t worry, it’s vegan!)
The result is a cuppa that tastes a bit like a cup of mulled apple & honey cider (more apple than honey!) – plus tea! It’s a wonderful flavor combination that dances on the palate. Just sipping this makes me smile – reminding me that it is finally fall! It’s organic, VEGAN, gluten-free, allergen-free & all natural!
organic ingredients: green tea, apples, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, cloves & natural flavors
to brew: shake the pouch well before you measure to make sure the spices redistribute throughout the tea. use 3g of leaf & spice to 12oz of very hot water (175°F) & steep for 2 minutes. strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes before you start sipping.
a small amount of sugar (about ½ a teaspoon) will encourage the spice notes to shine through – it tastes good without the sugar, but it will taste a little bit more like “fall” if you add the sweetener.
