Our first tea from our “Celebration of Spring” Collection, I wanted this tea to represent a basket of springtime fruity treats.
This blend starts with a rich, sun dried Assamica black tea grown in the Yunnan province. To this tea, I added a whole bunch of berries – strawberries, blackberries and even a few raspberries – & some sweet oranges as well as a touch of magical sweetness to create a tea that is mostly fruity – with just a touch of candy-ish goodness – this blend tastes like a tasty treat the Bunny might have left you in your basket!
Not as much candy as it is fruit – this cuppa is a robust black tea with a blast of springtime fruits! So yummy! It’s also VEGAN, sugar-free, gluten-free & allergen-free!
ingredients: black tea, organic fruits (strawberries, blackberries, oranges & raspberries) & organic natural flavors
This tea is amazing – it’s a different tea with every sip! Sometimes, I taste mostly strawberry, others, I taste a medley of the berries. Still other times I taste mostly raspberry & orange. Occasionally, the black tea will be the most forward flavor, with the berry tingle hitting the palate at the end of the sip, while the candy notes weaving their way in & out of the sip. I love the way this tea plays on the palate and all the flavors come together in a really delightful way. It’s a fun, fruity cuppa that’s perfect for springtime!
to brew: I recommend giving the pouch a good shake before you measure out the tea, because there is a lot of fruit in this and some of those little bits may sift toward the bottom of the pouch. the leaves here are very large and wiry, so you’ll want to either measure this with a scale or eyeball it rather than try to measure it with a spoon. use 3g of leaf & fruit to 12 ounces of nearly boiling water (205°F) & steep for 2 1/2 – 3 minutes. strain & allow to cool for at least 10 minutes.
I will say that with this tea, you really want to observe the cooling time. The tea tends to be just a little bit more aggressive tasting and perhaps even a touch astringent when sipped before that 10 minutes. With the cool time, the flavor really evens out [- it becomes really nice & smooth & delightfully fruity.
I would LOVE to know what your top 10 52Teas are, Kittenna, as you seem to have tried all of them. :D
