Tea of the Week for April 3, 2017!

This Zomba Steamed green tea from the Satemwa Estate in Malawi seems to lend itself nicely to fruit flavors, particularly citrus-y fruit flavors. So I didn’t want to stray too far from that flavor profile with this blend – but I did want something a little different this time around so I decided to go with pineapple which isn’t a citrus fruit but it has that sweet-tart quality that I often associate with citrus so I thought it would be a nice change of pace and a flavor that would play nicely with the Zomba Steamed tea.

To pair with the pineapple notes, I wanted something sweet and smooth – but something a little unexpected. Let’s face it, it’s not every day that you find pineapple and peach paired together in the same tea – so I went there with this blend. It’s a simple recipe of two fruit flavors – but when they’re put together with this refreshing green tea from Malawi – it’s a winning combination!

ingredients: fair trade green tea, organic peaches, organic pineapple and organic natural flavors

I second Sil’s assessment that this is reminiscent of Butiki’s Flowery Pineapple Oolong. The pineapple flavouring is so ripe and juicy-sweet. I suspect that the Zomba Steamed Green Tea base and the peach flavouring attribute to the well-rounded quality of the pineapple flavour. The cup leaves lingering notes that vividly evoke the stringy and citrusy sensations of biting into a good piece of pineapple. I don’t really taste the peach, except as olfactory and aftertaste factors, but it’s a lovely addition.

This was a delicious warm-weather tea and it will be missed (along with the aforementioned weather)!

crowkettle sample. I love pineapple teas. love them. Something about the juicy bits of pineapple in teas that makes me happy. THIS tea is lovely. Like i wish the dollar would go up because i’d like to buy a pouch for myself. I don’t get a lot of the peach flavouring in this one, but i’m 100% ok with that because i want the pineapple haha. The base of the tea still comes through, blending really nicely with the flavouring. reminds me a little of the memory of butikit’s pineapple oolong that i loved.

Final Count: 73

If only Butiki was still around, because I would probably have drank every single oolong they offered.

This week’s Tea of the Week – I love this Zomba Steamed Green Tea from the Satemwa estate in Malawi – it has a natural fruit tone that is somewhat citrus-y to it and so I like to play to that as you probably have noticed with some of my blends with this base. I realize that neither fruit flavor featured in this tea is actually a citrus fruit but pineapple kinda reminds me of a citrus fruit because it has a juicy, bright flavor that is sweet and tangy.

And I thought that pineapple would work fantastically well with this base so I decided to blend it – but what flavor to go with? I wanted something smooth and sweet – so I went with peach.

This combination is absolutely delicious.

Mmm, that sounds lovely!
