According to Wikipedia:
The fuzzy navel was one of the first drinks to arise in the new popularity of cocktails and mixed drinks in the 1980s. It was created by Doug Schuster in Dublin, Ohio who was working for National Distillers at the time. National Distillers owned the right to distribute a new product from DeKuyper called Peachtree Schnapps. Doug was tasked with creating new drinks containing the Schnapps. He found that it tasted best when mixed with orange juice. He christened it the “Fuzzy Navel” after the marketing department came up with the slogan, “You can taste the fuzz”.
A competing claim has its origination in Omaha Nebraska at the Wagon Tongue Bar. It was mixed by Jack Sherman, who worked for Phillips & Sons Liquor, who gave it the name “fuzzy navel”.
This fashion was described by New York Times critic William Grimes as “a kind of cult, rallying points for young drinkers in search of fun and not too picky about taste”.2
“Fuzzy” in the name refers to the peach, and “navel” to the orange.
I guess that’s better than a drink named after a hairy bellybutton.

This still has a banana runt taste! It’s probably just me. I steeped it for 2 minutes instead of forgetting about it this time, so it’s a lot smoother and I can actually rate it because it doesn’t have a bitter aftertaste.
Two minutes is probably a bit short, maybe I’d go 3 next time just to compare. It’s very pale (repeating this since it’s the reason I oversteeped it the first time) but very flavorful. It mostly tastes orange, but there’s a definite taste of juicy peach…and seriously I get that candy in the aftertaste. It’s sweet without being too sweet, and very fruity.
I will have to try it again iced, only this time I won’t oversteep it again.

Anyways, SIPDOWN WOOOOOOO! Used up the last of this sample from momo (thankyou!) because strangely, I’ve been craving it for a while. The first time I tried this, I remember not having a clue if it tasted true to the name or not. However, since then, I’ve actually drank a Fuzzy Navel! And I’ve gotta say that it’s pretty deliciously accurate! Citrusy-peachy on a quite nice green base. Yums. I’m drinking this cold right now (it has been sitting next to my bed for hours while I have been spending hours working on stats… and then it continued to sit there when I discovered a really awesome error that meant I had just wasted 3 hours of effort…). But anyways, the point of saying that I’m drinking it cold is that I think it’s a FABULOUS iced tea! Frank, perhaps this would be a good one to bring back for iced teas next year?? Although, with the green base please, not a black one.

This tea is insanely weird, but in an pretty awesome way. The citrus flavor is incredibly spot on, and very orangey! It almost has a fizzy smell, if fizzy had a smell anyway. There’s also a really nice peachiness that hits at the sip end and lingers as the aftertaste. It’s juicy and adds an almost like a peach nectar type sweetness.
It’s hard to pick out the green tea underneath all this, but it’s definitely there.
I’m really excited to make the rest of this as a cold brew!

Backlogging I got this awhile back in a swap from momo thank you very good. This tastes like peach with abit of orange and I can taste the green tea to,and I added some sugar. I may of over steeped because the green tea in this is a tad strong for me and will be more careful next time. This is really good the fruit with the peach and orange taste natural and strong and very good. thank you so much momo.
This came in the mail today and my is it good. Yet another hit from 52teas.
This tea has a smoothness that is beautiful. I’m not a fan of green teas normally, I find them either sharp or grassy or both. But this has none of that! I’ll be having this many more times!
This has orange in which I am craving today and pineapple has it’s charm from time to time so it would be the perfect time to try this blend. I made a pot of it for when my husband got home so hopefully it will please him.
It smells soapy, pineapple teas always smell soapy for some reason. It also tastes rather soapy and…strange…really. Despite it’s strangeness I can at least taste some orange amidst the soapy pineapple. The more I sip the better it tastes but honestly it’s still soapy and strange. Not sure if I can finish the rest of this one but I don’t have much left, may end up putting it into my next trade.
I totally did not taste banana runts. I don’t like banana runts … but then, some of the banana teas from 52Teas others have claimed to taste a banana runt flavor to them that I did not taste.
Anyway… this is AMAZING iced. After I had my first cup hot a few days ago, I brewed up a pitcher of it for the fridge, and it was really good.
It’s not like a strong banana flavor, it’s just something I pick up on. Thankfully it’s something I like, unlike when anything contains almond and it becomes all I taste. I think it just might be the peach giving me that idea.
Nice review this one sounds so good. I hope they have some back in stock again.
