My husband told me this morning that this has become one of his favorite teas. He said that it’s the closest thing to key lime pie that he’s tried yet. His favorite dessert. I’ve actually been putting off tasting it, I think because I really can’t wrap my head around hot limeade.
The aroma is all citrus, of course. There are bits of citrus peel in the mix and maybe some dried apple too. After steeping, all but the citrus peel has turned to mush. The liquid itself is cloudy with pulp. It smells very tart.
The taste itself is tart and bitter all at once. It’s very strong and is reminiscent of chewing on a piece of lime zest. It does kind of have a grapefruit flavor to it as well though I’m not sure if there is actually grapefruit in this blend.
I’m seriously thinking about tossing the rest of this. The only reason I haven’t yet is because I know my husband loves it and spared this precious sample knowing that the bag was already so near empty. I certainly don’t want to waste one of his favorites.
