drank Smaug Tea by 52teas

I honestly don’t remember why I picked this up other than it was Smaug, and I must own all the dragon things. However, this tea is awesome. It’s dark, subtly sweet, and has a nice burn in the back of my throat as I sip it. It’s cooled down a bit since I started drinking it, and oddly enough for a tea inspired by a fire-breathing creature, I think I prefer it at room temperature. The cinnamon and cayenne are stronger and mingle together nicely. Also, I can just taste the Lapsang Souchong now – before, it was a hidden and I couldn’t detect any.

SO YUMMY. This tastes like banana and cream. I wasn’t expecting such a strong banana flavor so it was a nice surprise. Absolutely delicious!

drank Mykonos by Shab Row Tea Emporium

I had a cup of this today. It was a bit nippy, and I needed some caffeine to wake me up. Earl Grey it was!

This is a STRONG tea. I steeped it for 3 minutes and it was much stronger than most other Earl Greys have had. The tea actually overpowered the other flavors and I could not get any currants or rose flavoring at all.

That said, I enjoyed the tea. I don’t mind tea a little on the bitter side, and the bergamot was definitely there, so it was like a very strong cup of Earl Grey. I do want to try steeping this for a shorter time to see if the other flavors come out more.

just finding this now, but have you considered brewing it a second time?
It would probably be weaker, with some good flavors.

Their tea is very strong, I must say.

YUM.

This is so good. The flavor profile is not very complex: it’s almond and vanilla. Because, as the name says, it’s an almond cookie. Totally delicious. I’m drinking this unsweetened. I’m enjoying it very very much.

Not rating this at the moment.

I had a cup of this with lunch today and it was very pleasant. Light and fruity with a hint of other spices underneath the citrus. However, because of the difference between white tea and rooibos, I suspect most of the rooibos vanilla chai is sitting at the bottom of the bag. I did turn it upside down and gave it a few good shakes before opening it but there weren’t any rooibos bits that I saw in my spoonful. I think this is a tea that has to be repackaged in order to fully blend it before drinking.

There is a story behind this tea, the random bag of herbal tea from France. I am in a swap group on ravelry, and a French raveller sent me this along with some absolutely scrumptious yarn. Apparently, this is herbal tea made from a real witch recipe for a love potion.

I don’t know if it will find me love, but the tea is quite lovely. It’s light, not overly herby, and slightly sweet. It’s a nice relaxing cup at the end of a long frustrating day at work. I’ll be sad when the bag is gone.

drank Almond Oolong by Adagio Teas
353 tasting notes

I love almond; I love oolong, so I ordered a sample of this from Adagio. It’s a smooth oolong that’s quite flavorful – however, I think it tastes a bit more like chocolate than almond. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing because this tea is still quite drinkable and delicious, but it is a bit of a letdown for an almond fanatic like me who wanted a tea that tasted like tasty tasty marzipan.

However, if I forget this is supposed to be almond, I quite enjoy this tea. I think this would mix quite well with Maraschino from American Tea Room. This tea is screaming for cherries.

This one is lovely. So very very lovely.

I brewed up a mug of this after finally getting my latest package from ATR, no thanks to FedEx who employs a driver who doesn’t actually want to deliver packages, CS reps who will BS me lies in order to get me off the phone, and being told conflicting things by different FedEx folks about just when I can pick up my package from the FedEx store after the driver “attempted” (HA!) three times. (TL;DR: FedEx SUCKS.)

Anyway, blueberry rooibos. So yummy. It smells exactly like blueberries, and was delicious. I added some sugar to bring the flavor out. A very nice tea to unwind at night with while watching the latest episode of Arrow.

Another free sample from Twinnings. I was pleasantly surprised by this one. The flavor is much stronger than I had anticipated, and is definitely orange. No sugar needed with this tea. I probably won’t buy this myself just because i prefer loose and this didn’t wow me enough to keep in stock, but it’s pleasant for a fall day in the office.

drank China Oolong Tea by Twinings

This tastes very similar to the generic oolong I got from Capital Teas, which I found weak and flat in flavor. Which probably means Twining’s has great quality tea for bagged tea, or Capital Teas sourced poorly for that oolong. I love oolong, but don’t love this tea. It’s weak tasting, and does not have any subtly to the flavor at all. It’s pretty decent for a bagged oolong, I guess, and it’s definitely better than other bagged oolongs I’ve tried. But with oolong, it’s loose for me all the way.

Profile

Bio

I’m a tea-aholic. I’ve always loved tea. It is soothing and warm and comforting. I always had it when we went out to eat as a child so my first association is with rich and delicious food.

As an adult, I’m learning to enjoy tea on its own merits, and bask in its subtleties and varieties. The ritual of making a cup of tea is instantly relaxing.

I prefer oolong and white teas, followed by greens. For the most part, I don’t like straight black tea, but appreciate it as part of a blend or flavored. I’ve learned to love the world of flavored teas out there.

I’m slowly learning to appreciate rooibos blends, which I started drinking for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Love: Oolong, almond, coconut, peach
Hate: Ginger
