Thanks to wheezybee for sending me this sample during our swap and my apologies for not drinking these sooner. This came in while I was out of town and sat forgotten while I had my 16 year old brother-in-law visiting, otherwise it never would have taken so long to enjoy these.
I love Earl Grey tea, but for me it has always been a drink I turn to on a cold rainy day. Today wasn’t cold, but it sure was rainy, and I decided to pull this sample out of my swap basket. I didn’t really care for this blend while hot. It was very bitter, had an overwhelming citrus flavor, and didn’t really taste like EG. I put it in the fridge to cool and the vanilla really started to shine and the citrus mellowed out. This was an interesting take on EG, but not one I would count among my favorites.

Have you tried it at 2.5 minutes? At less than boiling? Someone told me to do that with Adagio teas, and since then I’ve been a HUGE fan of the TARDIS blend, which I’m pretty sure has Earl Grey moonlight in it.
I guess if that was just a sample it might be too late to try that. :P
I’m completely out, but I did wonder if a shorter steep time would help. I do have a package of the TARDIS blend that I haven’t tried yet. I’m such a geek, I’m waiting on more Dr Who to watch before I drink it.
Hahaha, that’s awesome. TARDIS was one of the first teas I tried and it was from a swap. I fell in love immediately and for some reason found myself thinking about it MONTHS after the fact. The only thing holding me back from ordering was the shipping to Canada is outrageous (like $30?), but I was lucky enough to find someone to mule it over and I am loving my 6 oz tin. I bought it half for the tin, and half for the tea. :D Gotta geek out!
Anyway, I hope you have more success! I can be pretty sensitive to bitterness and Adagio teas have always been smooth for me if I do it like that.
