One of my biggest challenges as a Scot living abroad has been finding a tea room that not only knows how to bake the perfect scone, but also doesn’t try too hard to create a ‘British’ environment. It’s warm and inviting, with a large selection of quality leaf teas, traditional sandwich recipes, and friendly service, something that’s kept me coming back for over four years even though I now live in California.

I could not rate this highly enough – this is, by far, the best tea room I’ve been to in the USA.

This is not where to go if you want tea and fripperies but if you want a good cuppa, “Lancashire lass” Jessica Avery (owner) has you covered. The tea selection is not lacking. There are good, filling sandwiches and a few salads available as well as a small but consistently delicious selection of sweets. The afternoon tea service is just wonderful and of course includes true clotted cream. The shop can get quite busy in the afternoon as Platte and 15th is quite a trendy little neighborhood.
