I really enjoy many of DAVID’s TEA’s blends so I visit at least a few times per year. I have been to this uptown location twice because it is located close to a bus route I take frequently. The sales people are always friendly and helpful. The store is busy, but looks clean and organized.

The reason I prefer David’s over most other tea stores is because there is no minimum purchase. I often buy ~12-15g of each new tea just to sample it, usually about $2-$4 worth, but you could do less. They are always nice about it, even when I buy 8 different tiny amounts and want to smell them all.

I visited David’s Tea on a mission for something to replace my dwindling supply of a discontinued tea (Tea of Life’s Rooibos Chocolate Cinnamon, anyone seen some?) and they were very friendly and certainly knew their tea! I walked away with a rooibos cinnamon chai, and while I knew it wasn’t going to have that same cocoa-smoothness, it is definitely a great tea in its own right. I definitely appreciated the help picking something out! :)

As for the company, they have a variety of teas from basic to frou-frou, probably leaning toward the frou-frou. I like the basics more, so wading through a website full of crazy flavors can be daunting, but there’s always that golden needle in the haystack. (It’s kind of weird to put chunks of nuts and raisins in your loose leaf tea. Just saying.)

Anyway, I definitely recommend their physical shops, and their online one! You’ll find something you’ll like.

The best staff of all the Davids in Victoria – they really know how to keep people coming back. Everyone’s amazing and friendly – although that does make it one of the busiest Davids on the island!

Some quality products but most are heavily flavored with what feels to me like artificial/chemical like products. Staff are always friendly and locations are open bright and inviting.

Just have to give a shout out to the wonderful folks who work at the Uptown location in Victoria BC. Fantastic people with a true passion for the product, I always end up spending more time than planned in the store talking about tea and coming up with new combinations to try. They know what I’ve tried, and what I need to try, know what I like without having to tell them. I’m in there so frequently (at least once a week now) and they’re always genuinely happy to see me. Walking into the store feels like I’m walking into family’s home, I feel accepted and welcomed. It’s more than a retail store. It’s more than a tea bar. It’s that cozy little breakfast nook in your grandmother’s kitchen, or the squishy armchair your dad had when you were a kid. Very few places can make a person feel like that in the hustle and bustle of modern life, and the ones that do are usually small businesses in tiny towns in the middle of nowhere, where everyone knows everyone, not one piece o!
f a larger company in a busy city full of faceless people. I go back to the Uptown store so frequently not JUST because of the fantastic tea, but because amazing people like the folks working there are just so hard to find in this city. It’s because of them that I choose the Uptown store every time, despite there being two other stores in the city. Thank you David’s Tea for not only a fantastic product, but for the chance to meet such great people, for a safe place to go and have a cup of tea with friends, and for turning “Let’s go for coffee” to “Let’s go have tea”.
